just a little political point to make here
it is very hypocritical of MSP john lamont to make this statement as from day one when the borders railway was first suggested in recent times he was 100% opposed to it
although running the steam charters on a sunday was designed not to interfere with the timetabled service I can assure you that it did lead to delays and some cancellations to the hourly sunday service

as I am sure mr hume knows buses trains and planes get delayed and cancelled every single day---it is a hazard of public transport
over crowding happens...
125,000 trips in the first month is impressive but I agree it is meaningless and gives absolutely no indication of the future success of this service

if you were to do a random poll of people living in the borders and Midlothian I would reckon more than 90% of people would not know that stow of wedale was in fact the village of stow in the borders
on the subject of overcrowding , late trains etc well !!! of course it will settle down...
I have heard many reports of on certain services people left standing and kids having to sit on the floor
given that its a new service and many want to try it out I would have expected more than two carriages on each service
an excellent post I must say sensible and balanced
I agree the line should go all the way to Carlisle -- as it would give those using the borders line the option of north to Edinburgh to connect with east coast or south to Carlisle to connect with the west coast
rising houses prices if...
