Rig set up in the space between the two lines at Cross gates would appear to be undertaking bore hole investigation work probably associated with piling for electrification gantries. I have noticed similar investigation going on at various location between Garforth and Neville Hill, including...

Looks like movement on the Huddersfield to Leeds section
There is an article in Railway Gazette:
First Trans Pennine Express is hopeful that it will be able to issue a call for expressions of interest in the provision of additional bi-mode trains before the end of March.
Does anybody have any info on what they are looking for?

Thanks for the confirmation, I am not aware of any other services going that way, most non stops run through the platforms, either 3 or 5 depending on direction.
Who at Northern decided it would be a good idea to bombard their customers on new trains with endless announcements through the PA. Can the volume be reduced by the crew?
There is a drilling rig undertaking SI in the carpark at Garforth, drilling is taking place in the disabled bays alongside the track and could either be investigation for electrification mast piles or for DDA improvements in the form of a new footbridge. Does anyone know what is going on?
The plan to leave the masts over the Leeds lines between Colton and Church Fenton until the autumn must have changed, most of the mast on the Leeds side between Colton and Brumber Hill went up on Saturday night.
