I don't think you'll have any trouble on the XC leg but might have trouble on EMR and especially GWR from Bristol when you'd be expected to have gone via Gloucester. There is a 9:13 direct Beeston-Cardiff, arriving 12:25 and you should be accepted on that with no problems as the guard should...

This has happened to me before with the exact same train (going to Gloucester), although it was cancelled on the day rather than being pulled from the timetable. They were fine with it at the ticket barrier at Birmingham New Street and fine with it on board the earlier train too.
