    Subject Access Request

I wouldn't say that the back and forth was pointless. If ScotRail doesn't hold any information about the OP, then that's all they needed to say - although that wouldn't be true, as their Customer Services department has a record of the OP contacting them, which would include the OP's name and...

    Subject Access Request

Based on the fact that Police Scotland refer to them, I'd say that the Information Commissioner's Office "makes the rules" about Subject Access Requests in Scotland. As such, ScotRail should have responded to your request within 1 month, and should have provided any information within 3 months...

    Thameslink Core congestion (01/02)

You mean questions like "How much time do you get to inspect the drains in the tunnels?" and "roughly how long would it take to clear out any build up of sludge that may cause potential blockages?"

Likelihood of refusal of a 14.2 split ticket on VTWC

This is the feedback I was looking for, and the issues I thought might be expected. So, it might be a case of "how bloody-minded am I feeling this morning?" When it comes to the choice of VTWC & LNR...

Likelihood of refusal of a 14.2 split ticket on VTWC

That's the sort of thing I was thinking of. Thanks

Likelihood of refusal of a 14.2 split ticket on VTWC

Not sure if this is best posted here, or in Fares & Policy, but here goes. I've got a current yearly season between Apsley and Milton Keynes Central, marked "Any Permitted". I will be moving temporarily to Letchworth, but will still need to travel to MKC on a regular basis, so don't want to get...

Why is there now an obsession with re-nationalisation?

This sort of comment crops up every so often. You do realise that people don't just spring into existence with railway experience? The obvious comeback to that would be to demand that people should "come up through the ranks" as it were, but that isn't really practical. Yes. They're...

Grayling: It's not my fault the May recast went wrong, I'm no rail expert

If you sack a minister, they just take a pay cut.

    Weather related disruption Leeds/York/Doncaster (27/07)

Was York ROC or the IECC "taken out" by lightning, or is this just "lightning+major signalling issues = Network Rail shouldn't be allowed to run anything larger than an OO train set"?

Why should wiring Standedge tunnel be "difficult?"

Maybe one for the "controversial opinions" thread, but if NR had more electrification projects, then they might get better at costing and delivering...

What is your controversial railway opinion/idea?

I'll state upfront that I have no expertise in railway signalling equipment, and I am in no way criticising your viewpoint, but I am curious why you have this opinion.

Virgin Trains East Coast franchise to end 24 June 2018 and is temporarily re-nationalised

One thing that probably focuses the mind is the increase of a maximum penalty for a data breach from £500,000 (under the Data Protection Act) to £17,000,000 or 4% Global Annual Revenue (whichever is greater).

    Hydrogen powered trains ?

Basically, you squirt hydrogen gas into a special box (called a fuel cell) and electricity comes out. It's not supposed to catch fire. OK, it's quite a lot more complicated than that, but it does - sort of - cover the concept.

Article on blame culture in the 'railway'

The latter being something that people tend to overlook. However, that doesn't really tie in with the topic of this thread.
