LNER Horsforth stop - set down only

Correct. The ticket is valid for the direct journey between the two stations listed on the ticket or by any number of scheduled passenger services over the shortest route between the two stations/any valid routes from the routing guide. If you get diverted but still arrive at Harrogate then you...

    Stations unsure of their name

In this case, I guess the distinction is rather important in that there is Edinburgh Waverley, Edinburgh Haymarket and then either Edinburgh Park or Edinburgh Gateway depending on the line you are on.

    RMT to fight the cuts

Train drivers are more often represented by ASLEF so actually, RMT members have been at risk during the pandemic as they are the conductors and station staff who don't have the luxury of sitting in an enclosed air-conditioned cab all day. The pandemic is far from over even if the lockdowns are...

You can finally spend a penny at Shipley! (Old station building turned into toilets and waiting room)

BUSY. Before COVID-19 peak time services between Leeds and Bradford FS would be full and standing you'd probably see ~400 pax or more on a Class 333 which can hold 360 seated and plenty more in its spacious door areas. This is why the Class 333's were extended to 4 cars in the first place. Leeds...

Staff member stabbed seven times at Bromley South

Yes. My TOC has a conflict avoidance module available on the e-learning portal. All new guards are made to go through it and a few others when joining the business. I know there was a recent push for all our frontline staff to log on and go through it. Conductors are being encouraged to sign up...

Day to day life as a conductor

From what you have said above re TOC and location here is quite a specific account of what to expect in a normal day: (used spoiler tags because it's a lengthy reply)

    Northern Conductor Apprenticeship

On the east T&Cs, you start at £22,081 whilst in training and once you have passed out at your depot it rises to £29,098. You'll spend around 10 weeks in training school before joining your depot where you'll have an interim rideout with a Conductor Team Manager then gain experience working with...

Different Guard Depot, Route and Traction cards

Northern Leeds conductors are split into a few links so not all will sign every route. Traction: Diesels: 150/1, 150/2, 153, 155, 156, 158, 170, 195 Electrics: 331, 333 Routes: All Conductors should sign the following routes. All new starters will learn these routes to allow them to go...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Tonight's 1741 Glasgow Queen St to Aberdeen is 170433 sadly. It's a shame the introduction has been so patchy. I managed to get a couple working the Edinburgh to Aberdeen route and they were great.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Ouch! I went up on 1A43 which was 170413. In standard class it was pretty busy. I don't think there were many seats left in my carriage. Just checked the menu i've got and jesus it really was expensive. £4.10! For a roll and bacon. That's shocking.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

You must have been on the same train as me and got off at the same stop haha. You weren't the one at the end of the platform watching it leave were you? I live tweeted the journey and got some attention from ScotRail and Alex Hynes. I was in standard class sadly but it was still a nice journey...
