With the ending of the SuO Edinburgh-Oban service in the new ScotRail timetable, what passenger services will operate over the Cowlairs East Jn to Cowlairs North Jn curve now? I thought the Oban was a Parliamentary for this.
How do drivers prepare for the new layout opening, from a route-knowledge perspective? Is it just via a notice being published in advance, and a classroom exercise, or does the schedule of work allow for drivers to get some practical training on what it looks and feels like now, before they...
The whole southside service is a mess since Covid. Withdrawal of the Cathcart Circle services outside of the peak periods means that the western side of the Circle is reduced to one Newton train per hour, which is an appallingly sparse service for a suburban railway. In the 1980s that was 4tph.
Maybe a local can correct me on both counts. WMSC is at Saltley, adjacent to the Derby line and on or close to the site of the former PSB. As far as the extent of control of the Shrewsbury line goes, I believe WMSC controls the line approximately as far as Wellington.
The Evening Times still has this article from 2007 up: apparently the East End extension is a "done deal", and will "unequivocally" be delivered in time for the 2014 Commonwealth Games :s
It looks odd with yellow-over-green. Am I right in believing that it's usually preferable to have the more restrictive aspect closer to the driver's eye line?
Maybe there's an exception in this case e.g. sighting considerations where it's preferable to have the yellow aspect higher up.
Maybe only to the loops. Electrifying the Dalmeny-Winchburgh Jn line in tandem with that would provide a useful diversion route for EMUs whenever Winchburgh Tunnel floods.
Another piece of electrification work not often discussed is renewal of the North Clyde system. It's 60 years old now and must be ripe for a major uplift.
I've mentioned this before: ScotRail are missing a trick by not making two or three 153s compliant and using them for the Glasgow Queen Street-Anniesland service. Outside the peaks, even a two-car Sprinter or Turbostar is overkill for that, and I'm sure ScotRail would want to put those units to...
Theoretical question: I'm at the Gyle Centre stance and a 20 or 63 shows up, now operated by First. If I'm travelling to Edinburgh Park station or Bankhead, as I've done many times in the past, what happens?
