Trainee from outside the railway and no, I hadn’t told them. It’s not a huge issue in my case but I just thought it was normal practice to seek references after a job offer, not before.
Just a heads up for anyone who gave a current employer as their reference - my boss has just asked my permission (GDPR rules) to pass on reference details to Freightliner. I’ve not had the interview yet so this does seem a little premature, I assumed they’d do it once you’ve been offered a job!
The first day is a Group Assesment Session. I assume this some sort of team building/problem solving type of assessment as I makes no mention of any structured tests.
I’ve had a look at previous Freightliner threads and can’t find any info on it, can anyone confirm the format of the day?
Well, that has to be the quickest application I've ever completed! So much less info required than other jobs I've applied for.
I'm a 45 min drive on a clear run, which won't be that often as I'm south of the Dartford Crossing.
This is the most likely reason it was extended. It took me about 10 attempts to save each section of the application, in the end I only just made the cut off.
Not really, it's pretty standard practice. I live about an hour from most of the South London vacancies that come up and accept that I won't be able to apply for a lot them. This often means a long, frustrating wait for vacancies within commutable distance to arise.
Thanks for the replies, I'd already tried different browsers with no luck. Cleared the cache etc last night and it was still not working when I tried this morning, had another go a few minutes after and all was fine. Application has now been submitted.
