I'm sure that LU do have lots of direct phones, my first though that the phone in the photo is in a lift machine room and that it went to a lift landing? I have not seen any when using lift station but they may be behind a panel.
Martin,
This is the underground section so although that's interesting although I think you might be thinking of something else needs to be in another group.
Been doing some historical research into where alarms would have gone but have not been able to identify any location. I know they would have been removed now like a lot of other places but does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions.
Can anyone tell me what phones there are in these rooms and where they would go to. I was sent a photo (attached) and there is no dial so between two points?
A couple of things
1. At Finsbury Park the signs they had for when trains entered and left the line have they been changed or is the wording still the same., cut out tripcock & cut in tripcock.
2. At Seven Sisters the signals that take you to depot would display a green aspect with indictor...
Bit of a historical question, does anyone know what room the Operating Manager was in before all the changes I think in the 1980s. I know the Head Controller was in room 222 with the Operating Manager nearby.
The only ones I know of are LU stations/control rooms and of couse the BTP but I don't think they will share. Perhaps on the open sections there may be a council camera but don't know of any.
Thinking about it the air flow coming south from Finchley Road once at swiss Cottage platforms would go up the escalators to the booking hall. For northbound trains the shaft would help I suppose.
