Phones in Lift machine rooms

Can anyone tell me what phones there are in these rooms and where they would go to. I was sent a photo (attached) and there is no dial so between two points?

I'm sure that LU do have lots of direct phones, my first though that the phone in the photo is in a lift machine room and that it went to a lift landing? I have not seen any when using lift station but they may be behind a panel.

I worked at a LUL lift station, The only phone remember in the lift room was an ordinary auto.
