They have to send away/test later the drugs/urine test, for everything else I was told by the nurse that I was fine.

I had the medical about 5 weeks ago, you don't need to take prescription, just take any/all pairs of specs and you'll be tested for each eye on its own and both together, with and without specs. Without specs I could only read the first three lines and that was enough for me to pass, with specs...

    Driver training and second job

I've just signed my contract to become a trainee driver and there was a sheet included where we had to either sign to say we don't have a second job or to explain how it wouldn't interfere with the main job and get managerial approval. Personally, I wouldn't want to risk anything that might...

Tyne and Wear Metro recruiting new trainee drivers

I completed the tests last November and it was all done in one day. Started at approximately 0845 and I didn't leave until almost 1700.

    How to enhance my application

Is there a person spec anywhere with the advert? If so, try and marry up what is in the person spec with your own skills/experiences.

It was height and weight/BMI, blood pressure, eye sight (distance and close up, with and without specs if you wear them), colour blind test, hearing test, ECG, breathalyser, urine. I am overweight and passed, so hopefully nothing to worry about for you.

Well done, I had mine this morning and all went well too. Nice feeling that there are no more obstacles to jump before the hard work of training starts.

That's good to hear that they are still getting done

    Medicals

I'm waiting for mine for a different operator. The last I'd heard was that the company they use to do the medicals had some staff furloughed, whilst the rest were doing work for the NHS.

    Northern Talent pool

I'm in a similar position as you, but with a different operator. Before Coronavirus got worse, I'd been told I'd been pencilled in for a May start (I'm an internal candidate), however the medicals cannot proceed as the company they use have either furloughed some staff whilst others have gone to...

How different is the practice test to the real test?

From my experience, I practiced the upper and lower case letters for a fortnight before my test. When it came to the real test, I found looking for the 4 dots much easier than the U and v shapes

    DB Cargo - Truth Hurts

Don't let this one attempt knock you back. Up until I first applied to be a driver, I had 6 full time jobs and only applied for about 10 in my while life,I feeling pretty confident in my ability to get a job that I had applied for. I then applied for the first time for a driving role (when...
