I’ve been with DB for over 4 years, clean record and been turned down by 2 separate companies in the last 6 months, on initial application, no tests or interviews. Now that’s a reality check and worrying!
I heard that the Union might potentially look to find employment with other companies for Drivers being made redundant. It would be good if this is the case as it saves people being out of work.
Avanti have just posted for Qualified Drivers again at London Euston, closing date 16th September

I’m in the same position as you so it will be good to hear input from others. I’ve currently got applications in for TOC’s and just waiting to hear back.
My main reason for moving would be the pension as my current company no longer do the final salary scheme.
Surely as you’re a Qualified Driver they would give you a bit of time to make the decision, even if just a couple of days.
How long have you been waiting? I thought talent pools for Qualified Drivers would be a lot less waiting as they need you quicker than training someone up from scratch
They just give you a scenario with 4 answers and ask you to put them in order of what you think is the most important to the least important. 20 scenarios in total I think.
I don’t actually think it’s a pass/fail test
I recently looked at applying for a qualified position at TPE and they wanted all of the forms submitted with the initial application, which I thought seemed strange.
But it did state they would only contact your current company if you were offered a position.
