    Britain's Most Scenic Bus routes

The X24 started at Glossop and then ran via the old E24 route from New Mills to Macclesfield and then on to Tatton Park. There was also a 57 from Macclefield which I assume went to Buxton and possibly on down to Ashbourne. For 1989 Cheshire County Council had 3 cross Cheshire services - X59...

    Britain's Most Scenic Bus routes

I think that connection at Macclesfield would've been on a Sunday for one of Cheshire County Council's Summer Sunday services, the X24 which East Midland ran from Glossop to Macclesfield and Tatton Park.

    Britain's Most Scenic Bus routes

I was down that way the other week and did the 50 to Swanage - well worth a ride. I can also recommend the 40 from Swanage to Poole especially on the run to Corfe Castle, which is quite a sight.

    D&G Buses

Update on the new Cheshire East contracts from March 31st on D&G's website:- https://www.dgbus.co.uk/service-updates/ The only tender they have won from someone else is the Congleton locals from Hollinshead. The 88 is split with Knutsford to Macclesfield becoming the 87, but no change of bus...

    Bee Network Service/Route Discussion

The only sources that mentioned a 289 were Warrington Council and Warringtons Own Buses, who doubtless got that bit wrong.

The Labour Government's Buses Bill, franchising, quality contracts/partnerships, deregulation.....

It's an interesting line about "funding would be allocated based on levels of deprivation and population, instead of making areas compete for investment as it has in previous years" which is OK in theory, but taking my local area as an example, Warrington has had a huge investment in new...

    Bee Network Service/Route Discussion

No worries, it's Warrington Council who have it listed as the 289. I assume the 288 replaces the airport section of the current X5.

    Bee Network Service/Route Discussion

I think they were listed as 279/280 which would refer to the current 280 Altrincham - Dunham - Partington service. The Warrington Council page may be a mistake and its the 279 not 289 which will run to Lymm.

Trivia: Current and Historical route which are letter only

In Warrington, Crosville had Mini Lynx A and B between 1987 and 1989. All the other Mini Lynx networks used either just numbers or the number with letter prefix.

    Megabus Discussion

Can't answer the question, but I did a Megabus journey from Manchester Airport to Middlesbrough a couple of weeks ago, and I noticed the seatbelt light was doing the same thing. The light to say if the toilet was engaged appeared to have a mind of its own as well. Mind you, by the time we left...
