MTR Elizabeth Line - Trainee Driver - Abbey Wood & Old Oak (25/03/22)

Sundays have always been part of the working week at MTR. No changes in T&C’s with this deal.

    Medical assessment

Not strictly true. Your corrective lenses mustn’t exceed -8.0 in either eye to pass the medical, irrespective of how well you can see with glasses on.

Approach Speeds and Speed limits at Stations and Platforms

Surprisingly, no drivers won’t drop down to Manual mode, it will stay in ATO, and the computer on board will adapt the braking as required based upon known factors. Drivers should always be driving in the highest mode available at all times. I will admit that 40mph at the ramp with buffers in...

Approach Speeds and Speed limits at Stations and Platforms

Same as others have said, 30 at the ramp, 20 if a red at the end of the platform and 15 into terminal/bay platforms....that’s until you drive/sit in the seat of a 345 in ATO, and it hits the bay platform 4 at Abbeywood at around 40mph!!!

    Class 345 progress

Yes, 7 minutes on the West, but the 8 minutes was in reference to turnaround times during SIDT and at Abbeywood. Though I believe the long term plan, post testing, so in an operational mode, may be for a driver to be waiting at the London end of Abbeywood to relieve the driver of the unit he...

    Class 345 progress

The turnaround is currently set at 8 minutes, or was pre Christmas, so enough time to change ends, though very tight if a change of driver, especially with the need to sanitise the cab and controls prior to setting up. the turnback, or bolthole as it’s known, is electrified far enough to capture...

MTR Cross Rail Successful Driver applicants Sharing info

You’ll receive an email shortly requesting you arrange a time to visit Head Office, where they’ll take copies of your paperwork (passport, Driving licence, etc) as well as have a fitting for your uniform. They’ll then explain the next part of the process. Got confirmation that I’d passed the...

Upon completion of training, circa 2 years, you will become a train driver on the Elisabeth Line, earning the £59k, with an increase to about £42/43 after the first year. This is not for a shunted role. Regards

Around 30-45 minutes from memory. They have a car park if you’re driving.

MTR Cross Rail Successful Driver applicants Sharing info

Had mine a couple of months ago, and literally wore a t shirt & shorts. Very informal, quite like a conveyor belt, with numerous people coming in for medical from different companies. Start my training on the 6th, so no doubt our paths will cross soon!

    WAFV Video

The black squares appear randomly. When I did mine, I was counting all the grey squares, and think the lowest number between them was around 8 or 9, with the highest being into the high 40’s or early 50’s, so quite varied with numbers in between. Was one of three completing the test, and what we...

New - Trainee drivers MTR Crossrail Plumstead Depot

I don’t believe there’s a risk, and a source I have says that they will be advertising for more trainee drivers in the near future as they are still short. My take on the situation is that maybe there is to be a slight delay on the go live date of Dec 2018, and rather than having a large number...
