Staff attitude to PRIV Boxes and Dating them

There is a huge difference between being aware of something going on, and approving of something going on. It was not confirmed it was the latter rather than the former. I fully grasp the concept, but the question seems to be, are they correctly meeting the requirements of the role.

Of course it goes on. I am just amused at the double standards view of the people employed to collect fares, and are quite vociferous about dealing with people they see as "proper" fare dodgers, but then are perfectly happy to let their mates travel for free.

So the train companies have not given permission, but it has become custom and practice to let your mates travel for free, and the management in the companies know the hassle it would cause if anyone tried to stop it.

It makes the shop worker or bar staff a thief if they do not have the owner's permission to give away free food or drink. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Protesting a bit hard there. Guilty conscience? I am sure that your training to be an authorised person told you that it was...

Of course they are fare dodgers. It is just that you have turned a blind eye to it and are not doing what your employer wants you to do.

But the problem would be what would they do with employee fare dodgers they find? What amuses me, is that in any other industry a situation where an employee deliberately deprived their employer of money that should have been paid, would be treated as committing a serious disciplinary offence...

Staff attitude to PRIV Boxes and Dating them

Precisely. It is not just the fact that rail employees have decided as group to deprive their employer's of income, but these are the same employees who's job is specifically to stop people from travelling without paying. And then to compound matters, try to argue that they have done nothing...

I understand the "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" benefits for the employees to help each other dodge the fare that should be paid. But what benefit does the company that has employed someone to check / collect fares gain, when that employee decides themselves to let particular people...

Delay Repay claims when alternative transport is used

It was not the amount of knowledge they did or did not have that made their "service" stand out, it was their utter lack of interest. And I did ask if they could find out, and they refused to even try.

So provided you buy something from the buffet anybody can travel for free. London to Edinburgh for the price of a Mars bar. Bargain. I am not sure the TOC's accountants would agree though, once all their customers start doing it.

So what does the TOC get in return when one of their employees permits someone to travel without paying for a ticket. Umm, nothing. Your example would work if it was the joiner giving away his own time for free. He isn't. He is skipping off work to build his mate's book case, whilst his...

And I am sure that the supermarket checkout operator who "forgets" to scan a bottle of whisky for a colleague feels the same.

Prevented from boarding while doors closing

Five minutes. Luxury. Before the new concourse opened FCC seemed to delight in giving passengers less than 1 minute to get from the main concourse to platform 11. And then you would have someone moaning on the tannoy about the number of passengers clustering around the boards at the head...

Staff attitude to PRIV Boxes and Dating them

No it isn't. In all cases the company has lost money that it is entitled to. So if I hide in the toilets and don't pay my fare the train company hasn't lost anything if there are some empty seats on the train. Shall I see how well that argument goes with the next RPI. Failing to buy a...
