On a 197 TfW to Manchester. Every call gets a before during and after announcement in Welsh then in English. Six announcements per call

Surprised that the TfW class 197 announcements have not had a mention. Same three announcements save for the station name, before during and after every station stop. In Welsh as well as in English. That’s six announcements for every station!

In more recent times, the Bet365 World HQ was set up just along the A53 from the station, which might’ve provided more footfall.

The platform dispatcher at Lancaster deserves a mention. When we were waiting for a Glasgow train, he invited my daughter to announce the arrival of a Barrow train over the tannoy which she delighted to do in exemplary fashion.

Saw this fabulous-looking box fresh Iryo train sitting at Zaragoza Delicias today. First I’ve heard of Iryo, which is set to take on the Renfe AVEs.

1S68 arrived 28 late into GLC due to a medical issue at Oxenholme, but smart work by the on board crew turned the unit round in 14 mins means that my daughter’s train, 1M18 left only 2 mins late at 1842. Plenty of goodwill there!
