Have you considered buying an Off-Peak Return from Wigan, then buying an "over-distance excess" on the return portion only to Lancaster (cost = half the difference= £73.20-£66.20= £7/2 = £3.50) to make the return portion into the return portion of a London- Lancaster Off-Peak Return, which permits break of journey (including finishing short) at Wigan, and has no evening time restrictions?
