On Sunday 28th of August I am travelling London. National Express Coaches are now running hourly services from Manchester to cater for the increased demand from lack of trains. Due to engineering works on that day the time penalty for taking the coach is reduced to around 2 hours 20 mins and...
As for missed stations the only one I can remember was a special BBC North West Tonight charter train around 1990/1991 to Carlisle missed Wilmslow. I think the train waited at Stockport (where we boarded) and a taxi brought the stranded passengers.
Slightly different, one Bank Holiday Monday...
It looks like the delayed Lowland Sleeper was overtaken by the first Virgin train of the day from Glasgow just south of Milton Keynes then arrived 30 mins later than it. That must have been a depressing sight.
I have not yet heard the announcement at Manchester Piccadilly for the weekend direct service to Pembroke Dock which never used to be a service until recently as far as I know. Given the lack of 175’s it would not surprise me if a 150 has done the whole journey!
I loved my trips on CNL, back in the day. I always found them a very strong brand and the trains were loverly inside. The evening evening trip down the Rhine whilst eating loverly food was a delight whilst travelling to Vienna. Never had any trouble sleeping after a glass of red. Given how well...
The “Boris Busses” have started going Front Door entry only due to revenue issues which is ironic given that was the reason they were brought in. The 8 from Bow is one of the first. Wheelchair uses can still use the middle door but it’s unclear re pushchairs etc. The rear 2 card readers no...
With family living in Marple I can say majority of services to New Mills and Rose Hill from Piccadilly are pacers with a few 150’s slotted in. In the peak most trains are doubled up and this will normally include 1 or 2 pacers. Some run to Sheffield but these tend to be mainly 150’s now.
Different situation but the Prices at Stockport Station NCP are horrendous at the weekend as it’s £16:30 to park for the day or even just for a few hours (Same a weekdays). At Piccadilly it’s only £6 all day at the weekend which is a fair price. On the rare times I need to park there I end up...
The Texas Eagle I traveled on from Chicago had around 5 hours wait in San Antonio as the through carriages are detached then reattached to the Sunset Limited for onward travel, in my case to El Paso, to LA.
According to Twitter handle @PacerPreacher the first pacer has been officially retired 142025 due to engine failure. It was due to retire in 6 days anyway. A few others go this week as mentioned already.

Any sign of the missing 23:00 Piccadilly to Hadfield Train which since the timetable change has left an hour gap at the time a lot of people are coming home from a night out? It was a big improvement to have half hourly throughout the evening but is very annoying this one is still missing.
Pleased to see Hadfield will have new trains from 2020 but there is infrastructure work that is badly needs doing around the Dinting Triangle to ensure travel times can be improved.
As for the Marple line it is implied there will be hourly journeys to Sheffield on a Sunday and by definition...
