  • Would on let me send 1000 characters in 1 message so here is 2nd half

Like i saythe questions differently but they are a good example of what to expect. There were a few more but i can't rememeber what they were. They are looking for you to give the example, what actually happened and then what the outcome was. There were two managers and a lady from HR in my interview. They were all really nice. They were all very relaxed which made me calm down and the nerves soon went. Incedently, i actually got an email 3 days later saying i wasn't succesful!!! I emailed back asking for feedback and got a phone call 20mins later saying they were very sorry and it was sent in error!!!

It all seems to moving very quickly. I only got my revision material for the assesment day last Tuesday with my assesment this Thursday. The assesment centre is in Doncaster.

Anyway best of luck, hope this is of some help and let me know if you need anything else.

    Rory
    Hi Ian,

Yes had mine a couple of weeks ago now. The interview is not very intense. It is more of them getting and idea of who you are and in their opinion, is it worth paying for you to go to the assesment day. I can't remember all the questions exactly but they were along the lines of
Name a time when you have dealt with an emergency
Name a time when you have used your initiative
Name a time when you have dealt with a difficult situation
How would you deal with someone being disruptive
How have you gone about Personel development in the past

They started by asking for my education and employment to date and also asked me what i knew about Northern Rail and also Liverpool Lime Street Station. To be honest i had read up on the website but didn't have a whole list of facts and i got through.
    Hi Rory,

I hope you don't mind me messaging you but I had word from Northern yesterday and I have an interview for the trainee positions at Piccadilly/Victoria on Monday. I know from following your posts that you have already been successful at this stage, could you please give me a heads up on what kind of questions where asked?
After months of waiting it seems Northern are really moving quickly on this now, almost alarmingly so, which leaves minimal prep time.
Anyway, any help would be highly appreciated. Also the very best of luck for your assessments this week, where are these being held by the way?

    Regards

    Ian
