Mobile Phone Coverage on Main Lines

I consistently find that there's no coverage at Smethwick Galton Bridge (lower level). On the approach to from either side it just goes to crap. EE & o2, just stop working. Been that way for over ten years.

    TFW WiFi question

TFW only guarantee speeds above one megabit. They also had at one point (and I think it's still there) a data cap of about a hundred meg before they restrict your download speeds.

Strikes - Who's driving and staffing?

Just to add, I don't want the thread to devolve into speculation about anything that sounds negative, i.e staff being more careful because their boss is at the other end. I was just curious about the different driving styles.

Strikes - Who's driving and staffing?

This sounds the most likely explanation. I've been doing this route daily since 2009ish and notice changes. The speed limits on approach doesn't feel the right answer with noticing trains being marshalled in almost like aircraft. I've not seen it before at BHM. It could be the headway thing...

Strikes - Who's driving and staffing?

Recently during the strikes I've had lots of time to stand and watch. I've noted that trains pulling into stations (Especially BHM) are a lot slower, and sometimes marshalled into stations with platform staff using hand signals towards where stopping points. At Wolverhampton trains are...

Birmingham New Street waiting seats - plugged in.

Aaaah - Solved! Thank you for the response. It was driving me a little potty trying to figure out what it was for.

Birmingham New Street waiting seats - plugged in.

I noticed whilst walking through BHM that the seats in waiting areas are sometimes plugged into the mains. I can't figure out why though? They don't feel heated. I thought perhaps a motorised seat to help less-able-bodied passengers sit down and stand up?

    66044 on A350 with police escort ?

Nothing particularly special. Police escort will come from the fact that it's a large load that may need junctions and small roads ahead of it clearing to make way for the carrier. Some larger loads work with local authorities to have roadside signs temporarily taken down so that it can pass.

Longest wait from amber light at level crossing to train? Why does it seem to take so long?

Yep. Tipton underwent a lot of work and now has an underpass. Which totally blew me for six when I was there one day, as I did my motorcycle lessons at a place called BCMT near there and recall being able to cross the tracks to get to the platform I needed. The next time I went there it was...

Trivia: Stations scheduled to have all platforms occupied at once

I've seen at Wolverhampton: 1: Manc Picc (1st to go North) 2: ECS (Waiting for Manc Picc to go North) 3: BHX (1st to go South) 4: London Euston (Departing 12 minutes after BHX to go South) 5: Walsall (Got in late and needed to wait for BHX to go South) 6: Empty and lonely Turbostar (Lord only...

    Season ticket re-print

It's had a lick of paint since the changeover :) The new station is coming along quickly as well. The only problem with that is, I'd have had to post it back to our corporate travel company, then wait for them to reprint it. I'd have got my tickets refunded, but it's still a paint in the arse.

    Season ticket re-print

Encode letter worked, the Wolves ticket office reprinted it.

    Season ticket re-print

Thanks for all responses. I think I can get it done at Wolverhampton, as it's not a VT station. Just need to find that encode letter now...

    Season ticket re-print

Hi, Apologies if this is the incorrect part of the forum to post this. My N-Network, zones 1-5, annual ticket has faded, to the point of making it difficult to read. I use Abellio corporate discount, if that makes any difference. When I needed a reprint due to fading (It's due to be renewed...

    Fatality at Tyseley (09/04)

Have to state my profound disagreement here. Lord forbid I ever have to witness a member of my family taking their own life. Though, I certainly feel that I'd rather help them with their dignity had they chosen another method, rather than having to identify a member of my family from coroners...
