CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Why can’t the catering cupboards actually be used for catering?

Should provision be made for a future rail link to Cardiff Airport?

I thought TfW (in the future) were increasing to half hourly in the peak but remaining hourly off peak? Or is that scrapped.

Should provision be made for a future rail link to Cardiff Airport?

Unless WG get a proper airline into Cardiff with multiple scheduled flights out of Cardiff every hour (like Bristol) then any future rail link is pointless. A line to the airport which just a few TUI passengers would use is a waste of time and money given most will drive to the airport anyway...

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

I’d flip the narrative having lived and worked in Switzerland. I’d say the Stadler engineers are ensuring the customer is happy with the operation and quality of the build so that when in service the trains offer the quality and standard a passenger expects! Once these are all in service I’m...

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

I think they’ve also been stung on previous PR announcements which have turned out to be untrue/ not deliverable. All these things together completely undermine confidence. The reliability of the railway in Wales under TfW has also been appalling. You only have to look at the Ebbw Vale to...

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Exactly, I know from personal experience with a family member in a wheelchair, we always used to book first class with a rail card because the carriage would likely be much quieter than standard and you wouldn’t have the embarrassment of having to squeeze in to a crowded carriage with a...

    Transport for Wales rolling stock

The XX33 from Euston changing at Stafford and Wolves do, so does the 17:40 so it's a minor inconvience really and I use the 17:40. Whats more of the problem for me is the loss of the late train on the coast in winter but thats another thread.

    Transport for Wales rolling stock

Plan C does indeed seem the most sensible to me, which guarantees fairness to all along the route! I live on the Cambrain coast and just 1 cancelled train means a 4 hour service gap, so I think it's right that they've chosen this plan for all the people in rural Wales who depend on public...

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

What are the plans for the City Line (Radyr to Ninian Park) once the new timetable is introduced? Will it eventually be 4 trains per hour each way? Or remain as it is now with the Aberdare services stopping?

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

BBC Radio Wales had a 5.4% market share of radio in Wales during the last survey period. That means 94% of the Welsh population do not tune in to radio Wales. Radio Cymru has a market share of 3%. Meaning 97% of the Welsh population do not tune into its offering. Radio in Wales is highly...

Where Would You Build A New Rail Connected Airport to Serve SW Britain?

I’d expand Heathrow and build a high speed rail connection from Reading to serve Wales and the West. A high speed rail bridge over the Severn too to close the Victorian tunnels. Alternatively an airport between Newport and Bristol , either side of the Severn bridge but probably the Welsh side...

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

A letter sent from TfW says that during the upcoming closure of the line they will be working on the passing loop between Fernhill (Glenboi) and Cwmbach. Will this loop be used for passing passenger trains? If not what is the purpose of keeping the loop in situ?

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

And I appreciate the nuances it’s just depressing as a passenger right now and not at all pleasant. Perhaps it would be better to run an emergency timetable so people know where they are.

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

But the question that should be asked is why is that the situation at the moment? From my passenger perspective I’ve stopped using the Ebbw Vale to Newport service, I’m using the car so it’s probably worse in my opinion to run a half service because you lose the confidence of passengers, who at...

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

It does seem like TfW want Newport to Ebbw Vale to fail. Half the services are cancelled on a daily basis, the trains they put on the line are 1 coach rust buckets from the 80s and I don’t see how you promote and grow a market by doing those things. It’s all so so sad.
