Below are a couple of photos showing the now fairly cleared bay platforms (off platform 12) at Crewe station. I took these yesterday morning in a rush though.
I'm frequently at Crewe but not been round that side for a while. It might just be general routine work maybe? I seem to remember the bay platforms nearest to Locomotive Services got cleared about 3 years ago but I know it's soon grown back since. I'm intrigued though.
Ah yes, I've just seen London Northwestern train allocations this morning. The 350s actually looks good. Been waiting ages for these to appear. Thanks so much for adding them.
I was on 170501 yesterday at Crewe. Very impressed by the interior refurb. As other people have commented, the ceiling and wall panels around the doors could have done with a deep clean. The nice clean tables, carpets, seat backs make the unclean areas more noticeable.
At Congleton just off platform 1 there is a station name sign in lovely original rail alphabet, black on white. It's strange at Congleton as there are quite a few new signs in rail alphabet 2 but look carefully and there's 1 or 2 original rail alphabet ones still there.
My own photo below shows...
Yes, it's definitely down to luck.
On the Crewe route the London Midland ones are most common. Occasionally you get an odd Scotland or Wales class 170. I prefer these 2 over the London Midland ones though.
What a waste of time, effort and money changing station signs for 'fun'. Avanti should try sticking to running a train service and having staff on platforms.
As much as I'm a genuine fan of Crewe station, it definitely is in urgent need of care and attention...
Rain pouring in around the roof upright columns on platform 1.
No glazing at all on the southern end of the roof metalwork on most platforms. Any train of 2 carriages or more means you get...
I'm guilty there as I usually contribute to the thread each year! I like seeing the impossible route and any odd or interesting entries.
Edit: It looks like Naughty Kid is getting coal again this year.
I see Norton Bridge is served this year even though the station is officially closed.
Neighbouring stations Wedgwood and Barlaston are served of course, being neither open or closed.
