"Could they?" Yes, technically. Here is a standard explaining what their limitations are...

It includes a list of every machine authorised to haul/rescue trains
Very minor correction - these (and other recent Stadler/Vossloh/CAF rail vehicles) are coming through "Royal Portbury Dock", not "Avonmouth". (Both part of the wider "Bristol Port" but important to differentiate)
321448 (this was the one pictured at Lackenby) was scrapped at Booths in late 2021/early 2022.
321437 (think this was also earmarked for the project?) scrapped at Booths in July 2021.
there's also a lot of information on trainlogger beyond the tiny snippet you posted - reading all of the comments on its record and looking at the recent sightings/photos would indicate that it's still at Long Marston
Looks like 331102 was photod at Edge Hill on Friday 17th - presumaby part of the shipment I mention in my 10 Aug post with 195103

Some new carriages have been visible at Portbury since Monday. There seems to be at least 3, maybe more - it's hard to tell from the M5 over ridge whilst moving!
You're correct -
The open day picture was at Crewe IEMD in October 1994; amongst which seven brand new 92s were on display and the three spruced up 90s.
The Freightconnection show the locos were repainted for was in 1992.
Meanwhile, further into South Wales, the unpowered half of an old Geismar multi-purpose vehicle is used by Colas Rail for similar purpose on the log trains between Briton Ferry and Baglan sidings.
Haven't seen a photo of it in action though.
There was a Derby-Bletchley delivery run last night (http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R03313/2016/09/01/advanced) - does anyone know if it was 387135 or 387137 (or both?) please?
Thanks!
