Returning to work after a fatality??

When I had mine there was an excellent support structure put around me and a careful laid out plan to ease me back into it. I went out with an instructor and we repeatedly went over the incident area with my IO keeping a close eye on my reactions and then I’d go through the area on my own with...

    Pay dispute at London Underground

From a driver's perspective, this year's 5% was a no strings pay deal only. The next negotiations were supposedly to sort out the driver's modernization plan and will be far far more onerous to sort. Combining the two into a multi year deal will not be without major headaches and possibly more...

    Pay dispute at London Underground

Think you'll find most drivers (well, about 75% anyway) will be turning up. Aslef have agreed to accept the offer. Try harder next time.

    Jubilee line this evening 10/11

After NOG, there’s no reversing points until your past WestHam so not sure how you’re going to reverse at Canning Town.

Minimum Service Levels Bill receives Royal Assent

Those who are ‘forced’ to work strike day most certainly will work their rostered shift and not some lashed up last minute timetable. unions must give 2 weeks notice for strike action and unfortunately the company can only move our shifts by 2 hours otherwise 28 days notice must be given.

Minimum Service Levels Bill receives Royal Assent

How on Earth can you run 40% of normal timetabled services on the tube and it remain safe? If a service is advertised then the public will come thinking it will be fine and they’ll just have to wait 5 minutes instead of 2. Overcrowding will be mental despite Underground management telling...

Daily Telegraph quoting from this forum today

Still a little salty after the ticket office fiasco so a bit of overpaid driver bashing to restore the equilibrium.

Outrage as London tube driver whips up passengers to chant pro-Palestinian slogans

Would also say that the Queen dying announcement above is also inappropriate. We‘re not a ‘breaking news’ service, we make announcements appropriate to the service we provide So that’s service announcements, announcements that help the smooth running of the service (mind the doors, etc) and...

Outrage as London tube driver whips up passengers to chant pro-Palestinian slogans

That’s a big no no. Someone is going to be having an awkward conversation on Monday.

Confirmed : HS2 West Midlands-Manchester line to be scrapped and replaced with other projects.

A lot of headlines with little substance behind them. he may as well said anything as it will be years before we see anything substantial happen beyond meaningless soundbites to give him something positive to campaign on come election time. most will be delayed, scaled back or simply remain a...

    AirPods (or similar) whilst driving

Be careful with what you claim to see. Ear defenders are available to drivers and are somewhat necessary nowadays. Most drivers will end up buying their own as the company supplied ones can get a little uncomfortable after a while as they press quite hard into the ear and the padding isn’t up...

Stress of train driving and work/life balance

I’m scumbag tube but there can be many reasons why he may be a bit ‘off’ It is certainly a different way of life and one that can take considerable adjustment. Rotational shift work is pants, it really is. You are forever trying to catch up with yourself and it can take a long time to adjust...

RMT Strike affecting London Underground services from 23rd to 28th July; ASLEF Strike action on 26th and 28th July. (Strike now suspended)

Pensions is a battle for tomorrow but one that will be fought at the appropriate juncture. For trains side it seems that changes will now be negotiated rather than imposed and whilst we know there will be changes ahead at least with union involvement, the sharp edges of the proposals will be...

Future of Ticket Office Consultations launched

Same with the last LUL ticket office closures. Sold to the public that all these staff would be released to assist in the ticket halls and provide a greater presence in the stations. Where are they now? All gone and they‘re looking to remove even more positions. Don‘t be fooled into thinking...
