Manchester to Leeds Northern vs TPE fares

It is, but things only change through relentless public pressure, not by accepting fare increases to help out an inefficient process.

Peak-time rail fares to be permanently scrapped in Scotland from September 2025

That doesn't hold together with what was said a few months ago-that the increase in demand had not been sufficient to justify the defecit.

Manchester to Leeds Northern vs TPE fares

Agreed. The normal response of any other business to a successful product is to offer more of it, not increase the price to reduce demand.

Manchester to Leeds Northern vs TPE fares

Most of the Calder Valley overcrowding is on the Hebden Bridge-Leeds section, not because of through passengers from Manchester.

Manchester to Leeds Northern vs TPE fares

Plenty of the public use ticket-retailing apps and websites and are well used to looking for the best deal, just as with buying any other product. Money Saving Expert is a site used by millions of people. The notion that people are willing to pay more for 'simplicity' is very much an affluent...

Manchester to Leeds Northern vs TPE fares

Yet again, I am left wondering why some rail enthusiasts have an issue with passengers having the option of cheaper prices, either from slower routes or from competition. Why do they want people to have to pay more? Do they really think that is what the public wants?

    TPE Liverpool-Newcastle skipping ECML stops?

I was caught up in earlier delays from this incident. According to the on-train announcements, trains had had to divert due to an ambulance treating an ill passenger from the trackside on a train which had stopped mid-route. This seemed odd as I would have thought that in almost all...

    Routing Guide categories

The Routing Guide divides easements into categories: * Local * Doubleback * Routing Point * Manual * Fare Route Whilst the meanings of some of these (e.g. Doubleback) is superficially clear, in practice they are less so. For example, 000035 is labelled Manual, but explicitly refers to a double...

Trivia: Platforms you cannot freely 'roam'

What's the reason for that, rather than it just being an open unstaffed station like many others?

Blatant media plug for Open Access in "The Independent"

Why shouldn't a media article choose to take a particular perspective in favour of open access? They're free to do so. There's no inherent reason for regarding other models of operation as being anything special.

IPhone automatically activated for TfL contactless payment when entering London area

That's what I thought, hence my puzzlement at the message.

Delay Repay claims becoming too much hassle?

I take the opposite approach. Even small individual values, when added together, becomes a larger amount of financial pain for a TOC, which they need to feel in order to incentivise being a better performer.

IPhone automatically activated for TfL contactless payment when entering London area

No, it's a different message than that, and why would it specifically happen when entering Lindon?
