Never been bothered by the tilt, infact I love it, especially heading south over Lammington viaduct.
Travel on the East Coast LNER if you dont want to tilt. Cost you an extra hour though.
There is no room to extend the turn back at Neilston for a reasonable cost. 4 car 380's are adequate for services on this route. There is no reason 385s cant go to Neilston at the moment if required.
On Saturday Scotrail were running 156s between Largs and Kilwinning due to the stormy sea tripping the overhead wires at Saltcoats.
Do guards still sign this route or were special arrangements made?
Anyone know if this will become the alternative of choice, as these situations are becoming...
East Kilbride services currently have 6 car 156s. 6 car 385s would suffice the route during peak and reduce to 3 car outwith.
Cant see 320/4s being used. 385s are brand new and transfer to Scottish Gov after 25yrs. Wouldn't cost a lot more to lease compared to 320s.

My source is someone involved in the EKL project. As for the 385s, the original design had no front corridors but the new rolling stock is essential for EKL electrification. I agree the front gangways are unnecessary and are restrictive. Having 385s without them would still allow them to attach...
Plans for electrification of East Kilbride are well advanced. Double track for the whole route and 2 platforms at EKL and Hairmyers. The 385's will be ordered to provide the capacity. As for Berwick, I believe TPE will begin stopping there from Dec 2020.
