Llangollen looks interesting. Pity probably too far for me

Mid Hants (Watercress) steam gala 13 - 15 Feb, Scheduled to appear are Brittannia and Bittern, for me the 9F as I do not have any pics of this class.

Those not familiar with the MHR are advised that entry (including the vantage point at Arelsford) is by flat rate ticket only - adlut, child, family or 3 day pass - intermediate fares will not be avaliable unlike the Swanage railway, for example, when on gala days one can go to (say) Norden for the park and ride and purchase a standard ticket to any intermediate station.

free parking in field adjacent to Ropley station (Hope its not too wet)

Is the Mid-hants steam gala being held over 2 weekends? As i thought it was the following week?

although not exactly a gala, the Gartell light railway which is a narrow guage line built on part of the S&D trackbed south of Templecombe will be holding an open day Easter Monday April 6

the line is on private property and is only open to the public on certain days

Two lines which don't usually feature on the diesel gala calendar.

Rushden Railway Museum (21st and 22nd March) - 31206, 31289 plus two industrial shunters.

Bluebell Railway (18th and 19th April) - 09018, D9009, 55019, other locos to be confirmed.
Frustratingly, Barrow Hill and Epping Ongar also have diesel events the same weekend. Unless it is realistically possible to attend Epping Ongar and Bluebell on the same day, many people will be faced with the difficult choice of which one to miss out.

Where on Earth is Rushden?!

Bluebell is required territory for me, as is the EOR. Unless you're driving it would be a bit of a PITA to do both events in one day!

Certainly the Bluebell having two Deltics down is tempting, as is the 09 having not had one yet. Hmm, I might have to get on with that, pending further details of the EOR event of course!

If you're going to Rushden by public transport, buses from Bedford bus station are hourly on Saturdays (at xx:30) and two hourly on Sundays (on the odd hour).

Swindon & Cricklade Railway have also announced a diesel gala on 21 & 22 March, so there'll be quite a few industrial shunters for haulage that weekend.

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railways Winter steam gala is on the weekend of 27th 28th of Feb and 1st of March inclusive. They had a bot of an event yesterday at Ingrow hosted by the Vintage Carriages Trust with Sir Berkeley running footplate rides in the yard and the little Lord Mayor with a smoky stack out in the yard and several displays both in and out. This week is half term and the railway is running a daily timetable of passenger trains. Pictures from yesterday can be seen on http://steammemories.blogspot.co.uk/ and the timetable too for the K&WVR for this half term week. There could be the Std class four running 75078, though yesterday it was the Yank.

Thanks for that. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is my local preserved line and as I am retired I can spend a good deal of time up there now. The event on Sunday was very good indeed, seeing Sir Berkeley, which is owned by the vintage carriage trust, in steam was great. I went up on a witheringly cold day in Jan when the engine was running to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the Vintage Carriages Trust, my goodness but it was cold in my favourite spot. You can see lots of pictures of steam on the K&WVR on the blog http://steammemories.blogspot.co.uk/. I am always up there and love the variety of engines they now have. With addition of BR Std class 4 75078 they have quite a stable of good engines. The Yank was running on Sunday and though I know an S 160 is not everyone cup of tea it is still a great sight nevertheless.

Bit of an update on our loco fleet for the June event at Stapleford on 13th
14th June. Current status is that we will have the NYC Niagara in steam plus a pair of Curwen's visiting the railway for June Working as a double header pair These can be confirmed as Rudyard based Waverley and also the privately owned by one of our members Emily
In addition to our Warship DH loco It is extremely rare for any locos to visit the railway and even more so to run on the few public events so make the most of the opportunity this June and its is FREE to enter. Ravenstone model railways will be attending plus a few exhibits and local real ale bar

Postcode Address is LE14 2SF

Quick reminder that the 2015 Diesel gala at the GCR(N) Ruddington, Nottingham, will take place this Saturday and Sunday.
Locos performing from the home fleet will be 47292, D7629, E6016, D5580 and 56097, together with NRM's resurrected Prototype Power Car 41001. This will be 5580's last operation at Ruddington as it moves on to Wensleydale next week.

In addition, GBRf are supplying a class 66 and at present, this looks like being 66765 by current allocations (although subject to what happens between now and the weekend).

An intensive two train operation is planned, and a Beerex will operate on Saturday evening.

Full details and timetable available at http://www.gcrn.co.uk/media/84171/2015_dg_with_allocs_v1.pdf
