A few very good photos in there, it was difficult to choose which one I wanted to vote for!

If it helps the person who took Picture 1, that's Doncaster I think.

3 was the best. 9 was runner up IMO. The others were either blurry or the train wasn't centered in the picture (no offence).

It's all about composition. Sometimes having the train off to one side with the background at the other side makes a better photo than trying to centre the train in he picture. (In my case, I was trying to eliminate a lot of the 'noise' on the platform I was on and capture the wider station instead)

I'm sure that the new POTW team have noticed that this poll was a public poll, where it is possible to see who voted for who. I'm sure that you've noticed and this week's poll will be private, but just in case you hadn't.

That was the intention

None taken, photography is subjective after all. However if you're going to offer 'critique' in a matter-of-fact fashion such as that, at least know what you're talking about. Why should the train be centered in the picture? As Crossover has already replied, the position of the train in the shot is dictated by the other elements in the photograph and how you decide to frame it.

To suggest every photo should have the train slap bang in the centre of the frame is 100% wrong.

You must have hated mine, then! Not that I care (no offence), at the end of the day it's my decision how I take the photo.

Pretty much all of the trains look centred to me.

... then why not vote for it? I also very much liked photo 3, but I seem to have been the only person to vote for it!

(And I should say congratulations to Ash39 - very much liked number 10 as well; a deserved winner in a strong selection IMHO).

Agreed - there were several good photos there.

And then, in a class of its own, there was mine. :P
