If I'm not mistaken you put a lot of those "user input" allocations into Railcam direct from TOPS info (no doubt in your own time and for free). On that basis, I tend to take them with a little more than a pinch of salt

It's also worth remembering any data isn't 100% accurate - and TOPS itself certainly isn't (for a variety of reasons). So whilst I'm sure the vast majority of those providing info on here (and Railcam) do it in good faith, there can be occasions where it's not the right answer.

If you're meaning the one later today it's 0Y26 (DB light engine move). Think you'll need to wait until nearer the time to have an idea what loco(s) are on it.

It's usually pretty accurate (I've seen the occasional duff entry but it's reasonably rare), and if I have a few numbers in mind when out and about (eg bashing HSTs) it can be invaluable! I'm not a spotter myself though, and I know that spotters often value a high degree of certainty, so perhaps I wouldn't like it as much if I were.

In any case, it's something like £15/year, I don't recall exactly, but I'm happy to pay that for something that has proven to be very helpful. It also gives you a few extra cameras (I'm not really bothered by that) and track diagrams (which are pretty good and tend to work better for me than the OpenTrainTimes ones).

Monday 29th: I have decided I will do Nottingham anyway as I need the track from there to Newark ( so will be doing Nottingham to Lincoln and back ), so if 153 374 is in the area I would be interested in knowing, please. For photo not haulage.

Can anyone help with some movements on Friday 19th January before they disappear?

Firstly the class 700/0 on 1E98 1700 Sevenoaks to Bedford and
secondly the 2 x class 387/1 on 2C32 King's Cross to Cambridge (the rear 387 being detached at Royston)...

As always, any help greatly appreciated!

I was just wondering why someone would recommend RailCam whilst suggesting data should be taken with 'a pinch of salt', Timbo.

Admin 25166 'dumps' regular TOPs lists whilst others add ... which may be from the cams/sightings/yahoo groups, etc .... As you say there are many reasons why TOPs may be wrong, but the lists are often quoted as more accurate than sightings. The only issue I have with RailCam is that there are those - eg 250001 - who will add a 'sighting' waaaay in advance based upon an early allocation at places such as Felixstowe or THLG as though changes won't be made!!!!
