Abergavenny Grade 3 (Releif) +29% (I think) is advertised internally at the moment - makes a grade 3 about a grade 6 salary wise basic.

I’d have thought they’d cover south and north of the home SB.

Also internal is Leominster and Pontrilis, they are also external to, both grade 2 I think.
Thanks for that Tom. I have already sent in for Pontrilas and Leominster. I will keep a look out for the relief vacancy.

Is anybody able to shed any light on what is required of a pre-employment medical with Network Rail, for a signaller position?
I haven't been successful in my endeavours as of yet but have a few applications still under consideration and remain ever hopeful. I was just wondering what to expect of a medical....
Basically, I'm carrying a little extra insulation, you know, for the winter like.... Is weight, BMI etc something that is considered and could lead to a failed medical, or is it more about the whole eyesight, hearing, D&A side of things?

The medical is basic eyes, ears, lung capacity, bmi and movement test (bend over, arms above your head, twist round standing still).

There are two standards, locations trackside or that are accessed via the track require you to have pts levels of eyes and ears.

Where as there is another standard fro non trackside locations like PSB/Panel/ROCs - where hearing and sight subject to risk assessment are leaser.

You will put on weight at a Signaller, apparently we’re high risk for diabetes - doesnt help curry night, doner night, fish and chips night etc

Hi Tom,
Many thanks for your reply, (and indeed for many of your other contributions that I've seen previously and have found really helpful and insightful).
I think for me to reach the BMI required to be classed as healthy I'd need to chop off 2 arms and a leg! I'm actually fairly healthy and gym it frequently but I'd be lying if I said it was mainly muscle....
Anyway, thanks again, will crack on trying to release some obese!

Unless your BMI impedes your ability to carry out your role I can’t see it being an issue.

Rang HR and asked for feedback. Got none - really not helpful in that respect, but she did let slip that there had only been one vacancy. She said the job ad must have had a typo in it for suggesting four roles.
I guess that means maybe we’re not so bad?

I’m really worried because the format of my CV has been transferred across like a child has completed it.

People asking for updates for jobs that are still being advertised - like any job you won't here anything until after the closing date.

Cool, mine is on the 9th of March. I take it that they’re interviewing lots of people then if the interview is going to run for 3 days

Hi Guys. In reality. When you get your job offer, how long is it before you get your start date?

I started signalling school Roughly about 2 months from the day I got the letter telling me that my medical and every other checks were complete. It all depends on availability of spaces in signalling school, they get booked very quickly and sometimes they’re booked for up to 10 weeks or more

Emailed HR and got the reply of timescales unknown. Really hope they don't drop an email wanting an interview at short notice lol.

Must have set a decent time and coughed hard enough as just had the all clear from the medical.
The end of a long road. Happy days .

End of a long road? Only just starting mate lol... More like you've just exited the slip road and now on the motorway for 80 miles
