ive just seen on twitter that Grand Central are to use a loco-hauled Mk2 set to help plug the gaps left by the reliability issues with the class 180s.

EDIT: Quote added from twitter account @ambassador_suit
https://twitter.com/ambassador_suit/status/1033008977951510528
So Grand central to be using Loco Hauled with Mk2s as a short term measure for unreliable 180s

7 Mk2s taken to Doncaster Belmont Yard by 67013 67015 earlier today

Can anyone confirm or deny or offer other information?
Cheers!

Is 180 availability that bad, or is it related to racing at York or some other event?

Grand Central have 10 units and only need 6 for daily service. Allowing for 1 to be at Eastleigh for refurbishment etc still leaves 9 for 6, that's 66.67% availability which should be easily achievable.

Not wholly correct, there are 7x SX Class 180 diagrams from the total of 10x units. 1x at Eastleigh, 1x B Exam at Crofton and 1x Heavy Maintenance at Heaton and the picture does look somewhat tighter!

Fair enough. Cheers for the full picture. Out of interest, I work it out as 2 from Sunderland in the morning, 1 from Kings Cross, and 3 from Bradford in the morning. Where does the seventh diagram fit in please? Does one of the units get swapped during the day?

The 7th diagram (HT187) operates a service on behalf of Northern - 1S99 1725 Leeds to Hebden Bridge with empties to/from Crofton ... not the most intensive diagram but still restricts what else can be done with that unit during the day (can't be the B Exam set for example).

Not sure where the story about anything being cancelled / altered tomorrow has come from!

Interesting decision to lease MK2s.. with a max speed of 100mph. Needed some offlease HSTs to be honest.

It hadn't occurred to me that 1S99 does not work off a KX - Bradford train. This was new in the May timetable, whereas the morning service (1S98, 0702 ex HBD) was already running (from Halifax) and takes up the 10.22 ex Bradford.

Reported on WNXX that the 67's are heading south on an additional 1338 Doncaster - Kings Cross.

According to what they've sent out on Tyrell it'll be running as 1Z68 leaving Kings Cross at 17:14, calling Doncaster (set down only) and York.

Was the Peterborough stop on the Up service a Set Down then?

Crew change only.

Ahh, fair enough was actually surprised that Peterborough PSB put it on the Up Fast between Stoke Junction and Peterborough as expected it to be put on the Up Slow instead.

Got some hefty layovers on the way up at Stoke Jct (6 mins) and then a 40min layover at Babworth loop.

Funny that for something said to be on stand by the stock went back to Burton on Tuesday. I wonder if it comes back this weekend, what with Euston closed again
