Hi all,

I'm curious as to whether anyone knows what happened to the above train yesterday?

It appears to have departed Manchester Picc 123 minutes late and not even made it all the way to London. What caused the delay?

I've seen a post made by a person on Virgin Trains Facebook page about this train supposedly terminating off route at Wolverhampton.

I believe there were huge problems with overcrowding at Manchester Picc last night.

Virgin Twitter feed said it had been given wrong route out of Picc and had to go back to the station.
Then passengers pulled more than one passcomm and they couldn't all be reset.

In what way was it given the wrong route out of Piccadilly and why would the passengers pull the passcomms?

It was given the route towards Longsight I believe.
The service was extremely busy leaving Manchester as were pretty much all the other's since about 4pm. There was a lot of intoxicated people boarding the train also, coming back from the Christmas markets etc.
I believe there was also some sort of skirmish before the train was even dispatched.
Pretty unsurprising that passcom's were pulled.

An additional to Macclesfield (1T91) did run it alieviate some of problems from the previous weekends in terms of overcrowding.

XC have been running a few additional services out of Piccadilly on Saturday evenings, some to Stoke, presumably to cover axed Nothern diagrams due to strikes.

Presumably you mean it was signalled into Longsight Depot and not the mainline?

You can be wrong routed as early as the first signal beyond the platform starters at Picc, with the only routes subsequently being onto the Up Goods (no good for a passenger train) or towards Ashburys.

If anyone likes set numbers it was 390136 according to a friend who was stuck on this train. A fight broke out as well needing the police.
