Let's not overhype things. From when centrally controlled air doors first came along (Underground in the 1920s, LMS Wirral Line in the 1930s), through to recent times, I don't believe there was a single fatality from wrong doors opened.

You wouldn't think that the way the unions go on when a manager guard during strikes open the wrong set of doors...

The ones at Crossflats look in good order. been there over 30 years

Trigger’s broom/Theseus’ ship: how many replacement deck panels and supports have they probably had in that time? Up until a few years ago all stations I’ve seen built like that were extensively patched before the decks were replaced (I think it came to a head when people started falling through them), with some having to have sections rebuilt from the ground up.

Not sure how another delayed Network Rail project is anything to do with TOC's...
But overcrowding out of Leeds isn't only down the short Northern trains (which might or might not be solely because of platform lengths, as has been pointed out.) TPE carry lots of commuters between Huddersfield and Leeds - to the point that long-distance travellers used to get left behind. (Someone has commented on here that TPE's traffic has collapsed since I last experienced it, and I'm not surprised.) TPE were contracted to put 2 sets of Mk3 stock into use, which would have allowed the doubling up of two other circuits, at least until the end of this year, by which time the new l/h stock might be in use. That would have doubled the length of maybe 20 trains per day, well worth doing, I would have said.

Let's face it, all the West Yorkshire local stations could do with a rebuild and modernisation to bring them up to modern standards.
That falls into the "nice to have" category. Timber platforms are fine, as demonstrated by the numerous extensions around West Yorkshire in the last few months. Then there's Berrylands on the LSWR main line, (where masonry platforms would probably slide down the embankment every time it rained!).

Yeah nice to have but wood only has a certain lifespan before it starts to rot, so at some point will need to be either replaced by more wood or something more sturdy. For example Deighton, it was opened in 1982 and as far as I know it's had no replacement works done to the platforms wooden structure. The original masonry shelters have been replaced but I suspect the platforms are the original wood from 1982. I guess at some point there will be a need to replace.

Speaking of Deighton, that's one of the ones that was extended recently. It appears that certain sections (presumably those which had been heavily patched) of the existing structure were replaced at the same time.

Good, I have a soft spot for the station, it was my local station as a child, we lived on Leeds Road, not to far from 'Leeds Road'. My dad took us up on the opening day and we got the train to Leeds.

All of Deightons wooden boarding was replaced around 2014 IIRC.

Additionally is Leeds so busy that a long platform cannot be found by coming out of Neville Hill for the evening peak and entering service. The reverse happening in the morning peak?

In a word, yes, yes it is.

Not only that but you'd need to also find paths at the east end, that align with the paths off Leeds North West you want to use. Then you'd need to find the capacity on the depot.

Technically none, but Yorkshire will get 4-car 331s rather than 2x3-car 331s that we were expecting. .
Cue outrage when it is realised that the 331's have less seating than the existing EMU's.
