They didn’t use car stop markers at all for normal station stops but relied on the judgement and experience of the drivers. Since about 2008 there were a couple of sleeper specific car stops on platforms 2 and 19 at Edinburgh Waverley but these were only relevant to to shunting on the north side where it was important where the loco stopped in relation to TPWS equipment.I presume they’re being introduced for the new rolling stock, but it made me wonder what they have used hitherto - were they normal numbered ones?
Happy April 1st everyone.
if it is they went to the effort of putting them at Glasgow, Edinburgh and Carlisle as well..............................
Indeed, it was established a couple of hours ago that it wasn't. Genuinely hadn't noticed them.
I only know as i was in those three places this weekend
I was at Carlisle on Thursday, still didn't see them!
they might not have been there then!
Good point. Post #6 suggested the ones at Waverley had been in place a good while, I assumed the others had too.
If I remember correctly, the rout(e)ing guide uses map ZZ for sleeper services, too.
