Another stray Trident has turned up at Perth. 18099 was on Service 15 this morning. I wonder if Fife can be generous enough to give Perth some newer E400s instead of 15 year old Tridents...

If your lucky you might get some of the Ex London scannys stock that coming up.

The newer stock is requied in Fife for the school contracts which have a 15 year age limit.

All the Scanias from London are destined for Aberhill.

Been seeing a few of Perths 1 & 2 route branded E300s are getting repainted into standard livery.

Are they getting ready to be transferred elsewhere as well or are Perth just getting rid of route branding altogether?

All the Scanias from London are destined for Aberhill.
Did a quick 'back of a fag packet' count (I don't claim the numbers are 100% up to date), so: -
Rennies have: - School pvr of 24 tridents, with actual numbers as 2 '02 reg, 9 '53 reg, 9 '04 reg.
Dunfermline have: School pvr of 6 Tridents, with actual numbers as 2 '53 reg, 2 '04 reg, 2, 55 reg.
Aberhill have School pvr of 17 tridents, with actual numbers as 9 '04 reg, , 3 '54 reg, 5 '55 reg.
Glenrothes have School pvr of 1 Trident, actual number 1 '04.
( I an excluding the scheduled School pvr for E400s and except that there will be some operational overlap).
All the '02, '53 reg are already over 15 years old and the '04s all reach that age this year, with the '54s later in the year.
So that's a total of @ 35 Tridents + 4 '54 reg tipping over into 2020.
At the moment there's planned to be 15? ex London Scania to replace at Aberhill, so presumably at least another 20 newer deckers needed to keep the fleet inside 15 years.

Sorry, I should have said - it's only the East (and presumably central) Fife contracts which have a 15 year age limit. West Fife is 18 years, IIRC.

That is Correct, and when the tenders come back up in North East Next year that will also go back to 18 years.

Services from Leven to the north (other than St Andrews) have been terrible for years.

There was briefly a period where the X60 ran hourly to Dundee via Largoward but even the hourly 95 via Crail stopped running to Dundee many years ago.

Leven to Cupar was bi-hourly at best (e.g. the 53).

Certainly scope for improvements on that corridor - the Leven/ Methil/Buckhaven conurbation is quite large - and has good service to Kirkcaldy - but has poor services to the north.

Tech Levenmouth to Cupar is hourly, the council tender 41A was lost to Moffet. Ie, if you can get to Cameron Hospital or Kennoway.

I dont see the point for the X54 going via Cupar if that new service is starting, also surely it will be a 15min service from Halbeath to Edinburgh?

Volvo B9R/Levante from Chesterfield, will come in handy ;)

Be interesting development if true new service express Edinburgh Glenrothes then leven cuper and dundee would think x4 would be taken of as can't see them both getting passengers would think anyone from Glenrothes going to dundee would use x26

Your Right X4 will mostly likely be withdrawn, and more so M&W 41A tender will be to be revised to operate with Leven only. It a good chance the X54 will also be changed to be Glenrothes - Ladybank - Newport - Dundee only.

I think it's likely the x26 will change as it's already squeezed for time.

Just reporting what I hear. The new service would be X53. The old folks will be happy because I believe X53 and X54 would be at least mostly low floor operated throughout. No change to the routing of X26 or X54, but yes, the X4 would disappear again.

Why would the x54 start using low floor buses to Edinburgh on a express route any other changes comeing. That you have heard?

There isn't enough low floor stock, expect those newer coaches, I have heard the X54 will go back via A92. Of course Glenrothes - Leven - Cupar - Ninewells as low floor service might be good?

The 95/97 and X54 was put through the VOSA last week for june (can't remember the date).

Stagecoach has cancelled the off peak monday to Friday 47 Montrose town service from 6th May

Any word whether stagecoach has gained or lost any angus council tendered journeys yet? I wonder if they will gain any angus school runs from August.

The changes in June have nothing to do with maim changes. The changes are due to changes at school times.

What other angus changes are due?

IF you had bothered to read what I had postage..

IE even the change on the X54 is because of this reason.

HERE it is from the horse mouth.
FX54T (X54, 54) Glenrothes bus station Dundee bus station Revised timetable: 1555 from Bell-Baxter High School on Monday will now run at 1500

I appear to have lost touch with this thread; some interesting discussion has gone on during this time:

64 is staying with moffat. Glenrothes doing the 20a and b1 from July. St Andrews gain 95/97s.
Stagecoach has indeed won the 20A from Bay Travel, as well as the 89. Bay Travel have gained the 88 (and one trip on the 71), as well as the 4B and F6.

New Edinburgh-Glenrothes-Leven-Cupar-Dundee service introduced too.
This seems unlikely. Coaches were not favoured on the Glenrothes to Leven route hence why the X4 was brought back when the X26 extended to Dundee.

Services from Leven to the north (other than St Andrews) have been terrible for years.
Is there the demand for an improved service? The 99s run every 7-8 minutes from St Andrews to Dundee. Also, remember that in the unlikely event that the 95 is extended to Dundee, that single deckers would need to be allocated due to the Tay Road Bridge.

It a good chance the X54 will also be changed to be Glenrothes - Ladybank - Newport - Dundee only.
Sensible. I really think Stagecoach could do quite well with a semi-fast Dundee to Edinburgh service. For example, an U19, like myself, can get from Dundee to Edinburgh for just £8.50 on the X54, but would be in excess of £20 on Citylink/Megabus (on the day).

Stagecoach haven't exactly cancelled their off-peak 47 journeys, it's just a tender loss which isn't being replaced AFAIK.

There are also a few other Angus tenders up for renewal in August - various 30s and Arbroath Town ring a bell?

From what has been said Bay travel has infact won most of the journeys on the 71 because the short workings are linked into the 88. One Am and two Pm may be staying with Stagecoach but we will have to wait and see. Bay has also kept 17 and picked up 18s. I can see some horse trading coming.

The Levante from Chesterfield should start to come up next month. It does seem there going on a new route and X27 if not then B9 are heading for the bin.

Wonder why there is a review of services for changes in july when more than usual the changes take place when schools return in August wouldn't think there would be 2 changes so close!
