Heathrow Express Class 332s

Hi,

Anyone know why these are being replaced with 387s?

As a regular user of them in 'Business First' class with their unique 1-1 seating, surely the new 387 config will be a significant downgrade?

What will happen to them once they are replaced?

Their depot is needed for redevelopment.
Using 387s avoids the need to build a new depot at Langley.
The signalling system on the Heathrow line can't support 332s and 345s.
They are in need of an overhaul.

Seems likely although they will presumably be a bit better than the normal GWR 387s. The first two back at Reading have had seat cushions removed from their frames.

Not known - possibly scrap

Already discussed in another thread.

Because they are non-standard fitted with different equipment they may well be retired at an early age.
