It would certainly be a good step forward. GC have a 1st class lounge there.

A decent canopy on the island platform might not be a bad idea too. Many passengers for the London, Sheffield, Nottingham and Lincoln trains have to wait there.

Despite the recent spruce up it still has the feeling of desolation. Staffing and a ticket office plus more services might well attract more passengers not sure I'd use it after nightfall.

There is a toilet in the cafe at Kirkgate, but of course its only available when the cafe is open and I guess they would like you to buy something!

Normally if a station is unstaffed or restricted staffing hours the toilets are closed at such times to prevent vandalism.

Platform 1 could do with being extended so that the platform can accomadate longer units, the unused stub of the island platform should also be extended along with a proper canopy as before. The one question that people will have is how long it'll be before someone trashes the bog?

There's still a long way to go for Kirkgate to be as good as Westgate.

When I was there the other week, whatever was playing didn't sound like either of these, though I have no idea what it was!

I'll have to listen out next time I'm there.

I can see an album opportunity "The Greatest Hits of Wakefield Kirkgate Subway"
