I am seeing the LNER adverts here in North Wales.
The previous Virgin ones were at least generic and worked for both VTWC and VTEC.
We also get the GWR Famous 5 adverts, which are about as useful to us up here as those for bank holiday furniture sales in Bridgend!

It hasn't been explicitly mentioned, but I do assume you and others are talking about ITV?

Channel 4 has a couple of mega regions for advertising, I think 2 or 3 regions covers all of England, but every other channel has only a national version

I might consider returning to buy all my rail travel through LNER's useless website if they offered me the same functionality and benefits as East Coast did until 2015.

Since they're as desirable a ticketing channel as VTEC, which isn't very desirable at all, then they can advertise all they like but they're unlikely to pick up much in the way of extra business from the casual listener.

I too have seen a lot of outdoor advertising but, to be fair, this has been along the East Coast route - London, York and Edinburgh in the past week - so makes more sense.

Agreed, the site has been garbage ever since VTEC made their "improvements"

I was watching TV last night and the LNER TV advert came on. Noticing something strange about the seats on the train I replayed it on YouTube

It seems for whatever reason either they have filmed the video on a mock-up or have edited the video because the interior of the train combines the older “Mallard” seats of the 225s/HSTs but with the interior of their new IEP/Class 800/Class 801 trains. Whilst a few shots show the exterior of the 225s, internally is definitely not one of their older trains, except for the seats.

Wonder why they have done this? Surely they can’t be embarrassed about how uncomfortable their new seats are so have had to alter the interior on their promotional videos to show the more superior, older seats?

From a carriage in for repair perhaps? It's a mock-up carriage anyways.

I dont think LNER made the ad themselves nor probably thought about it too much, however I would imagine the ad agency was using what it could get access too in any of the depots at anyone time that would be in there during the day and as such have ended up with a mixture of different trains in different shots - and its not something the average Joe would notice so i doubt they gave too much thought when they said to go with it.

Not everything is a conspiracy you know ;)

How can it be a mixture of different shots? The rest of the interior in the exact same frames is of a class 800/801, it’s just the seats that are different. No real train is like that.

I live in the West Country and we get Virgin and LNER ads. Not Crosscountry though or I just haven`t seen any.

Ask the advertising agency - Im just trying to explain how it has possibly happened , i never claimed it was what happened

But post makes no sense to me, you’re the one that suggested it so of course I’m going to ask you! It’s impossible for it to be different shots, unless the video was modified in some way or maybe filmed on a green screen in which case it meets the other suggestion I made in my post.

I’m not talking about mixing of different shots, there are a number of segments of that video with customers sat on “Mallard” style seats but the rest of the carriage they are in is an 800/801.

It was probably a mock up carriage then with stuff that was lying about, I'm no ad man but it seems logical to me that they didn't film it all in one shot and all on the same train.
