Took a spin on the HoWL last week. 153 up, 150 down. Had a chat with the guard about the PRM issue, he said the 153s are a nightmare job as the disabled access door is at the other end of the unit to the current toilet and so are taking about 2 months to convert and said it did cause a big loss of seats for a one carriage train. He thought it would make more sense to couple them up back to original 2-car formation to improve seating and only require one toilet to be done. Same guy o the 150 back, it had the toilet done but still in ATW colour scheme and seats (but had USB sockets) which I thought was odd as I was under the impression toilet mod was part of whole refit operation?

PRM mods are more than just toilets, and they're AC and USB sockets, not just USB sockets. I don't get why no 150s have received TfW livery yet though!

Because of the priority in getting them PRMd. Livery can come later when the rush is over

well yeah there's that! I'm still surprised that not a single 150 is in the new livery, considering that both PRM modified 153s so far are also TfW liveried :pThe mockups they put on the table in the TV advert only showed "153", "158", "170" and "175" though as well...

Could be with whom the contracts are with and at which locations.

Yeah i was wondering the same thing. When i had 150285 as soon as it had PRM mods i would of thought it would be in line to have its livery applied. But when it came out of its PRM mod phase it was just cleaned and sent back into service.

actually 150285, 150284 and 150264 were stripped to the metal and had corrosion repair (lower body metal replaced) and were repainted into a mock "new ATW" livery without stripes

pretty sure it was 264 I was on. Had the dot matrix displays installed as well but they weren’t working.

Because they’ve not long completed a C6 overhaul programme including repaint. Or perhaps you think stripping perfectly good paint off to replace it with the TfW scheme is a sensible use of cash?

Fair point! I'm guessing they'll leave the 150s until last

Had 175006 to Llanharan on Thursday, looks very smart but my only criticism is that the plug sockets are tucked against the side of the seat. I had quite a job plugging my charger in.

Did you get a photo of what you're describing...?

Nice one, now they just need to cut the green stuff back so that there's actually a view out of the window :p Accessible toilets ey...? I thought it just had the one - reminds me of a bus round my way advertising "tables" (it has a table!)

I had been sent this photo of 153325 at Shrewsbury earlier; was wondering if it had gone out on the HoW!

Apart from the panel attached to the windscreen wiper being black, it looks lovely! Does 153333 have
internal PIS too?

If its PRM modeled (which it is) yes as I understand it, it is a requirement
no, 153333 is not PRM modified and has the green London Midland seat handles and FirstGroup Dynamic Lines seat moquette. It's merely a TfW repaint (to replace the awful tatty ex-LM paintjob revealed after GWR dewrapped it for transfer, which can be seen in my delivery video) - 153325 was the other one but, along with ex-ATW 153323, has been PRM modified and given a full TfW spec interior refurb in addition to the repaint.

That does mean that 153325 and 153323 have internal PIS, though!

Yes it did the 6:04 Swansea to crewe via HOW then the Crewe-Shrewsbury shuttles for the day then back to Cardiff on the 17:20 via the Heart of Wales.
First time any of the recent transfers has escaped from Cardiff other than the crew trainers I think.

ah yes that's a good point, an ex-GWR 153 on the HoW! I still remember it being one of those tatty green units at the front of the delivery train (in my video) on the 1st of April :p

153333 has even been to Blaenau Ffestiniog on a recent Sunday on a gauging trip. It was the Chester and North Wales trainer at the time.
