Asking for a family member, needs to go from St Helens Central to Whalley (Lancs) from Monday 6 Jan everyday through until the Friday 10 Jan then again the following Monday 13 Jan to Friday 17 January. Will be travelling early morning on the outward journey and returning after 16:00 hours.

I have been able to get a 7 day season ticket priced at £76.90. I have tried to get a price for 6 through to 17th but NRE is saying this period of season ticket is not available - same when I try to obtain a 2 week one.

Any advise?

Odd period season tickets are not available for periods of less than one month, so the only season tickets that can be used are weeklies.`

Season tickets are only available for either 1 week, or any period between 1 month and 1 year.

OK so it looks like 2 x 1 weekly tickets. Is he best getting it from St Helens Central to Whalley or is there another station pair that would either make it cheaper or maximize validity area?

What will he need to take to have the season issued? Just a photo or some ID or proof of address too?

Liverpool to Clitheroe would maximise validity area for the same price.

Just need a photo for a paper ticket. If he has it issued on smartcard he doesn't need a photo.

So if Liverpool to Clitheroe is the same price then I'm assuming Hightown to Clitheroe would also be the same price?

Thanks, one final thing please guys.

If he gets the Hightown to Clitheroe 7 day season ticket, what are the permitted routes he can take, including any out of the way ones as this might be useful for weekend travel?

Looking at Journey Planner it suggests the following as valid, I didn't try anything more outlandish
Hightown - Southport - Bolton - Clitheroe
Hightown - Liverpool - Preston - Blackburn - Clitheroe
Hightown - Liverpool - Ormskirk - Preston - Blackburn - Clitheroe

And yes could be bought today for Monday.

Also appears to be valid

Hightown - Liverpool South Parkway - Warrington Central - (walk) - Warrington BQ - Preston - Blackburn - Clitheroe

Cannot find any itineraries via Manchester

Thanks again chaps!

I've been able to get NRE to give itineraries as follows:

Hightown - Liverpool South Parkway - Warrington Central - (walk) - Warrington BQ - Preston - Blackburn - Clitheroe
Hightown - Southport - Bolton - Clitheroe
Hightown - Southport - Wigan - Preston - Blackburn - Clitheroe
Hightown - Liverpool - Preston - Blackburn - Clitheroe
Hightown - Liverpool - Ormskirk - Preston - Blackburn - Clitheroe
Hightown - Liverpool - Kirby - Wigan - Preston - Clitheroe

I am assuming it would a also be valid to/from St Helens Junction and Lea Green?

However, I'm not able to find anything via Manchester.
