Welcome to the forum Paul, but please be aware you only need to post once on the same topic! ;)

Retro Railtours have successfully run three railtours now, and I haven't heard of anything bad about them, so I would guess that they are fine.

Yes they are - don't worry!

And if you hang around long enough here, the MD might even swing by to reassure you...!

Dear gents

sincere appologies for the multiple posts - I will remember in future

So it seems that Retro will not run away with our money ? we were done like this a long time ago and are always wary

James - no offence meant and look forward to meeting with you next week

Yes. There is no need to worry.

Timings should be released today, I will reply to this topic as soon as I hear anything.

Most railtours send out the tickets as soon as they have the confirmed timings, so hopefully in the next day or two.

Might want to edit your post to get rid of the email address, spam bots can pick it up and you'll get loads of unwated emails offering you gold bars and Ugandan dollars.

Back to topic, aye still not up. Any idea if it is just NR being slow or if James hasn't had time to do it yet?

I mean the timings are not confirmed. NR are slow.

I would guess that the moment he has confirmation he will contact me ASAP to get the website updated.

How much notice do NR usually give? Is there a set time or just when they can/feel like it?

I believe they are supposed to give 14 days notice. However, there have been occasions when tour promoters haven't received full comfirmed timings until about 48 hours beforehand.

I guess it is a tricky thing to sort out. Still, very much looking forward to the bank holiday indeed.

As little time as they can possibly get away with - and a little bit less.

However if anyone has any concerns or questions about the timings, PM me. I have a rough idea.

Network Rail have been rather slow with getting times out to all promoters over the last few weeks, so it is not an isolated case.

I should also point out at this point that only Standard Class seats remain.

We still don't have the timings through.

However it is estimated to be a 0515 start at Sheffield. Stockport should be around 0620, and Stalybridge around 0640. Huddersfield 0715ish. Passengers from Mirfield need to get a Northern service to Wakefield and change there (this will be at no cost).

Due through Ribblehead 0948.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Went to Ribblehead viaduct this morning and it sounded in fine fettle (could still hear it for about 5 minutes after passing where I was stood) running 5 minutes early.

joined at Huddersfield and really had a good day behind D9000 ! Keep up the good work Retro Railtours.

My time behind preserved locomotives have been at limited speeds - but 97mph on the west coast main line ! pure enjoyment, will remember this day for a long time.
