A colleague found that what GA is offering from Norwich to London was quite disappointing and is waiting for the next Hares Fares promotion instead.

I spoke to several conductors & none of them had even heard of the sale.

Only bought a couple of slightly cheaper Advances from Woodsmoor to Manchester Piccadilly and back on the national sale

Thank you.

Does anyone know when GBRS is closing today -- is it 23:59?

Bumped into a friend in Spoons this morning in my pnb who was chuffed to bits he’d got £5 singles Norwich-London & return a few times next month. All good for the railway as he had no plans to go until he saw these ridiculously cheap deals.

He said it was the last day to book.

I think my colleague didn't find any because he was looking at weekend tickets which GA weren't offering. I presume these £5 tickets must have been for M-F.

Yes I don’t think they bother selling advance tickets with all the engineering works.

The Northern £10 day ticket offer in connection with local newspapers appears to be coming back. This page about the offer has appeared on the Northern website: https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/tickets/newspaper-offer
It is not yet clear when the tokens will appear in particular papers.
Ah! I did have a look earlier as they usually do one round this time of year and it still showed last years dates, looks like I was a few hours early.

I tweeted Northern this morning to ask when the tokens would be available - their response and I quote "We are looking into this for you and will advise you as soon as possible Thank You".
I will update when I get a reply.

Scotrail must be spending a fortune advertising the extension of the off peak fares applying all day everyday !!

Full wraparound of 4 pages at the front of The Sunday Times Scottish Edition today.

That's likely to be fewer than 50,000 copies.

I think they might need to update term 6 in the T&Cs, just how long has London Midland ceased to exist (and East Midlands Trains)?

Thank you - the offer starts on the 12th ! - normally they go on sale the week before to give people the chance to buy before the offer starts.

Nothing in the Manchester Evening News (Monday 5th Feb).

Do school Easter holidays begin for some on the 25th then?

Yes. Varies by council area. Some are sticking to 1 week before Easter and 1 week after. Others are doing 2 weeks after with Easter being early. Stockport, Salford and Manchester schools are among those breaking up on 25th. Trafford, Cheshire and Liverpool are among those not breaking up before the Bank Holidays. Obviously, academies and independents can set their own dates.

Uber Trains Ticketing

For missing avios, has anyone found a nifty way to get these reimbursed please? I‘ve tried through the Uber and Omio webform and Twitter and in app but haven’t got anywhere. They keep sending me in circles.

£10 day, £17:50 weekend offer back on with Northern. Usual papers for the tokens.
Rather oddly the Nottingham Post doesn't appear to be participating in the offer (and AFAIK never has done) even though it's owned by Reach plc and Nottingham is served by Northern (albeit only the Nottingham-Leeds service, with East Midlands Railway running most other services out of Nottingham).

There are at least two Derbyshire papers, the Buxton Advertiser and the Central Derbyshire Times, listed under National World, but I don't know if you can buy either of those in Nottingham. If not, then I guess the only way that people from Nottingham can make use of the offer would be to make a special journey to an area where you can buy participating newspapers, or ask a friend who lives in such an area to post some tokens to them.

And even if someone from Nottingham did manage to get hold of some tokens, they may find that because there are no participating papers for sale there, the ticket office staff at Nottingham may not be very familiar with the offer.

I would guess (though this is just speculation) that the Nottingham Post might have wanted to participate in the offer but EMR might have objected for fear that if the offer were promoted in any Nottingham local papers, passengers might get confused and think that they were also valid on EMR Regional services, and try to use them to get to places like Derby, Matlock, Lincoln and Skegness.

I think you are probably overthinking this. If you want the Nottingham Post involved you should perhaps contact them and ask why they aren't - it might just make a difference.
