I’ve heard that someone was hit by a bus, possible 691

A 74-year-old man was taken to hospital last night after he was struck by a busoutside Oxgangs Police Station.
The incident happened on Oxgangs Road North, near the junction with Oxgangs Avenue, at around 8.50pm on Friday, February 16.

The 74-year-old male pedestrian was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious injuries. No one on the bus was injured.

The road was closed until around 3.25am on Saturday, February 17 to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Road policing officers are appealing for information. Sergeant Grant Hastie, of the Road Policing Unit in Edinburgh, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information to get in touch.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone who was on the bus who hasn’t yet spoken to an officer, or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision. Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 3657 of 16 February.”

Witrh the new timetable, on Saturdays the clockface X5 is shown as starting from Waterloo Place at xx.24, at the same times as the weekday ones leaving Frederick St at xx.18 get there. Given that Frederick St at xx.09 is the terminus for both, it's either a mistake or a total mystery as to why, given that Waterloo Place is the first stop after Frederick St anyway.

Looks like the Frederick St line is missing from the Saturday timetable. It must be a mistake.

The X47 is a curious one (with the whole three stops it skips). Perhaps passengers have been using the 43 for the Princes St connection over the 47.
Having worked in Barnton for a few weeks last year, I can confirm that you're right. The 43 would stop and pick up multiple passengers at every single stop along Queensferry Road, which was a right slog and took forever. Whereas if there was no 43 due for a long while and I walked to Davidson's Mains to catch the 47, it often would pass bus stops with multiple passengers waiting, none of whom hailed it.

The last of the ECB eclipse 2s - 198 seems to have moved from longstone to seafield for paint prep
It moved there before 195 did yet 195 has departed for paint first last week. 198 is ready to go based on movements so will probably depart tomorrow.

I've had a look at the 12 timetable and have noticed a new journey added at 8:30 from Lothian Road to Portobello which wasn't mentioned in the changes. This will come off the peak AM 19 service which now terminates at Queensferry Road. There is currently a 9 peak journey which comes off this 19, I assume this will now come of an X47 instead.

No, Princes Street Edinburgh, which is why it was posted here. The website is still on the displays which were set up for use in Cardiff.

Yes sorry I should have clarified that, it was last at Cardiff Bus with fleet number 996 there. It was in Edinburgh yesterday.

Could it be that the bus is now headed for Lothian service long term, considering it’s already entirely fitted out in Lothian interior and would just need a ticket machine and paint?

No. It would stay white and Lothian are making adjustments to their BZLs so it would be odd to have this one like that in the main fleet unless they have this alongside the 25. I hope they change the window layout on the BZLs we are getting or the livery might look a bit shoddy.

What adjustments are being made?

The interior will be slightly different.
Ah right, fair enough. I don't think I went on the demonstrator in person in service. I went in at the Doors Open Day and strongly disliked how few step-free seats there were downstairs (about 8, compared to 17 on the 2017 B5TL/Gemini 3s), but it was busy so I left before I had had a detailed look around.

Do you have a source to confirm these assertions?

To the 110 million passengers in 2023 (#11670) we should probably add some at least of the 4.5 million extra passengers who used the tram last year, who might previously have used the bus. Makes the growth even more impressive. (Tram numbers reported today - 90% growth !)

This bus will be back in service with Lothian shortly and used for driver training and familiarisation

I was surprised that they recorded a new video for the N35 when they could've merged the existing 35 and then 25 (for the route in Heriot-Watt) videos.
Edit: I recognise now that the 35 video still shows the old temporary terminus at Ocean Terminal.

I had a further look at the timings and it looks like two new journeys have been added to the 24: one at 5:30 towards West Granton and a part route journey from the Hospital to Fredrick Street in the afternoon before changing to an X47.
They are also making use of the stop on the other side at Cammo on two journeys. My assumption is that the singular 47 which uses this stop will then continue to Heriot-Watt University and run as a 34, then X33. The first X47 will swap onto the 47. As for the second X47 which will also use this stop, I have no idea what that'll be doing.
