I'm heading to the AFC Wimbledon ground on March 9th for a Rugby League fixture ( London Broncos v Wigan) and am having trouble booking tickets to the named station. I'm not getting any success in finding potential engineering works on the day so am wondering if it is even open on a Saturday.

Advice on the Thameslink website...

Ticket acceptance:

You can use your tickets with:

  • London Underground Northern line services between Kings Cross / St Pancras and Morden.
  • London Buses between Blackfriars and Tulse Hill / Streatham, between Streatham and Sutton (via Wimbledon or via Mitcham).
  • London Trams between East Croydon and Wimbledon.

Thank you for that. Looks like Earlsfield then.

Alternatively Tooting Broadway (Northern line) or Wimbledon Park (District line, Wimbledon branch). All three are about a mile's walk.

Thanks for the help folks. Need to get back to St Pancras after the game so I'll take the easiest.

Easiest is the Northern line from Tooting Broadway to Stockwell, then a very easy interchange onto the Victoria line to King's Cross St Pancras.

Won't the Northern line from Tooting Broadway already be going to Kings Cross St Pancras? I've noticed it's usually Morden via Bank and Kennington/Power Station via Charing Cross.

It will; however it's quicker to change to Victoria Line, and very easy at Stockwell as cross-platform

Victoria Line from Stockwell to Kings Cross St Pancras 14 minutes vs 20 minutes on the Northern. If you get a fast connection, you might save 2 or 3 minutes! Each to their own. I'd stay put if I have a seat

I regularly travel from Colliers Wood to Kings Cross St Pancras. I always change to the Victoria Line at Stockwell, not only is it faster (you won't normally wait more than 2 minutes for a Victoria Line train at Stockwell) it's also a faster exit from the Victoria Line to the surface at Kings Cross (one escalator from the Victoria, two if using the Northern).

As a Broncos supporter living on the WCML - my preferred route is to Euston , then Victoria to Vauxhall then SWR to Earlsfield . The walk to the Cherry Red gate line is about the same as from Tooting Broadway but the Northern Line is quite unpleasant in hot weather. The shortest walk from Tooting is via the back streets - not the main road. Google maps to hand. Either walk can be bused - from Earlsfield being the most straightforward . If you are stopping off at the Corner Pin then Earlsfield is probably closer ! As you say engineering work can mean the Northern is the only option. If you train stops at Watford Junction, then you could try the Southern to Clapham then to Earlsfield. This doesn't work for me as I have a 20-25mins wait for the connection in Watford.
P.S. All I ask for is we are not nill-ed !

Good advice there wildcard. I'm heading down early so have no idea on the route I'll be taking but will definitely do Earlsfield - Vauxhall - St Pancras to get back.

Difficult start to the season for Broncos but it was to be expected just great to see you back in SL. Not sure about getting nill-ed but as long as the result isn't the same as the last time Wigan turned up in London I'll be happy, a cold wet day at Trailfinders saw Broncos win 18-16!
