GLA-SOU is a great route and allows me to visit family on the south coast far more easily than any of the alternatives. I've not yet tried Loganair south from Scotland but in general their fares seem prohibitively expensive compared to EasyJet.

There’s also Bournemouth - Edinburgh on Ryanair which can be very cheap although the public transport offering at Bournemouth Airport is non-existent compared to Southampton.

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.

Having Parkway station right across the road from the terminal is a massive win. Minimal faff and I can get to where I need to be further down the SWML very quickly indeed.

Hurn really does suffer from its location, though I see it's pretty cheap to fly from.

I wish they would operate from Edinburgh to Southampton in addition to Glasgow.

My £54 return was not atypical just the cheapest combination I could find

It really is a great way to travel between Scotland and Southampton -less than an hour in the air.
Yes, I use the Saturday morning flight from GLA to SOU now and then. Gets you down on the South Coast early. I have also used the Sunday SOU to GLA, this service gets you up the road but is often dearer.

Yes, you can be on the train in 5 minutes and at Southampton Central 20 minutes after landing if you time it well. I have flown from Bournemouth and have ad to get taxi as the bus service does not run at the weekend.

Trip from Edinburgh to Birmingham Out Friday and back Saturday.

Bit the bullet and paid £6.99 each way for Seat 31C right at the back.

On the way down no "piggy in the middle" and of course off quickly (Front/Back Steps) - unusually onto a Bus - but it was well organised with one for the front and one for the rear separated. 45 Minutes flying time.

On the way back rear 3 or 4 rows were virtually empty apart from mine which had A,B and C occupied - I was able to move to 30 CDE which I had to myself. Invested in a Costa Coffee which at £3.95 makes BA look cheap. Had it along with items raided from Avanti Lounge on the outward leg. Again 45mins Flying Time.

So if you are going to pay for a seat the back row seems preferable on a short journey as you get off quickly and it's in the cheapest band. Of course they might always shaft your plans by using a Bus on arrival. Handy for the toilet as well and plenty of room to lob your rucksack in the overhead bins.

The early flight from Edinburgh was a bus to the terminal last time I got it as well. I imagine some of the gates just don't have access to the domestic arrivals. In terms of placement, it's so much quicker to clear the plane through two entrances now the hang baggage charges are in place, so I've never felt really inconvenienced by being in the middle.

Seems to be two domestic arrival areas in Birmingham, last time we arrived it was at the newish pier at west end.

They were rumoured 12 months ago to be starting a few flights out of EMA. This has sadly not happened, i heard it from a friend in the industry so got my hopes up.
I think this may still be a strong rumour. Someone elsewhere who usually has his finger on the pulse had alluded to easyjet looking at starting routes from a U.K. airport that it doesn’t currently serve. EMA is the last big regional airport without any easyJet presence after they pulled the base there back in the 2000’s.

At least the return flight found us ejected via one of the middle gates in Edinburgh avoiding the 10 mile walk to the Exit if you arrived at one of the single digit ones.

Domestic arrivals in Edinburgh is just ‘walk out through the departure lounge’ so there’s no gates that can’t access it. They tend to bus for any non-jetbridge stand though even if it’s right next to the terminal.

That's true at Edinburgh, but where it's just the later-arriving Loganair flights where I seem to get bussed. It doesn't seem to be true of Birmingham though

Sorry I misread the post! Yes Birmingham only have about half their gates with direct domestic arrivals access IIRC.

All my recent EasyJet Edinburgh experiences, and these have been numerous. Have seen me at high numbered gates 24 plus, a nightmare both for departure and arrival, it's a long walk and the two moving walkways are always running in the outbound direction, assuming they are running at all. It really makes you consider what you're doing when choosing traveller modes for short hop domestic in particular, although until train prices come down and seat quality on lner goes up, EasyJet will still win and I am trying to lose a bit of weight so I shouldn't really complain LOL.

Restarted.

I flew EZY from EMA (and back) in 2003.

I use the weekend Saturday morning and Sunday evening return service from Edinburgh to there back in 2004 for my grandfather's 90th birthday. We had a wonderful weekend and the flight made it so straightforward
