Just passed Temple Mills and spare E300 power car 3999 is coupled at the rear to an E320 set. It looks as if the E300 power car has hauled or rescued the E320, but probably not. Does anyone know what capability there is for both types of train to rescue each other or be run in multiple?

That's interesting, I wonder if a provision was included to enable rescue within the tunnel and if so if the Eurotunnel locos would be compatible too.

I assume it's gonna take it into St Pancras for collection by a loco for the rest of the way to Derby
Ok. So it is being dragged to st Pancras then. Clearly being prepped because it had been sitting panto up for a few days and it did look rather clean for a change. Last time I saw it in the open, it looked as if it had been robbed for spares.

No assumptions being made. Sorry it should have been a question. It still doesn't answer the question as to why the power car was coupled to a class 374 set.

Are you absolutely positive it was coupled and not just parked very close?

I didn't think 373 power cars could couple to 374 sets, even in emergency.

Absolutely. If there had been a place to stop the car, I would have taken a picture.
