EMT HST service to Skegness this year?

Thanks guys/gals, just a pity there isnt a return HST! :) I presume the 17:30 & 18:14 departures back are formed of a 156/8 with a 153 bolted on for good measure?

EMT HST service to Skegness this year?

Hi, was wondering...... Does anyone know if East Midland Trains are running a HST set to Skeggy this year from Nottingham? my friends & I took advantage of it in 2009 & had a great day. Sadly the train wasnt full on either direction so im guessing they may have pulled the plug  Dont...

    50007 Hercules?

If thats the correct amount required for a repaint then id definately go along with your comment. I personally prefer to see a 50 in BR Blue but 'priorities' come first. 46010 is in the same predicament i believe? (battery wise) Oh i wish i could win the bloody lottery

Midland Railway Diesel Gala 26/27th May

Couldnt agree more, i know there is arguably 2 more significant galas in the form of KWVR & NNR this weekend, but the Midland Railway has such a wonderful collection of Diesels! Timetables, Rosters, Facebook & Twitter groups are so badly needed for this place as well. Still i know these guys do...

Stenson Jct To Sheet Stores Jct

Or maybe a tad quicker than 10 minutes? Given the stop at Long Eaton, entry into Derby, reversal & back out of Derby etc, surely a 20 min saving would be had in the form of 1 Morning/evening service to benefit the Notts Brum commuters? that is course if XC could find an exclusive path & extra...

    Swanage Diesel Gala

Strongly agree nd, to question the planning & effort of any preserved setup seems bizarre at best. I visited the GCRN's Diesel Gala a fortnight ago. The weather was appalling, 46010 wouldnt start due to her batteries being faulty, i paid £16 & made one trip because of the cold & no ETH & you...

Paignton & Dartmouth Railways Class 25185 - Running Day This Friday!

Each to their own of course & i guess we are not in charge of their Steam Railway, and in particular Diesel Enthusiasts dont appear to be top of their customer priority. Only when a Deltic is in town perhaps 'ahem Riviera Rat' :) Sorry to hijack this thread but myself & many others 30-50...

    ELR Diesel Gala 6th-8th July

Granted, if this was a smaller Diesel Event. However with 14/15 loco's announced i can tell you that there most definately is "something interesting" running already. Come on, it would be nice to have a surprise on the day! :) even tho i concede someone would leak the mystery guest on a forum...

GCRN Diesel Gala with a Perfect 'Peak'

Nice pictures, thanks for posting. i went today, to say it was a tad cold was a huge understatement! No Peak today :( chap on the gate said it was battery related!? Also a nice appearance of a couple of 31's in the afternoon. Anyway a few pics from me :)

    Crewe Hertige Centre

To be fair (regardless of which 37 isn't working) £5/£10 is a still a decent price for an experience that cant be bought in your local Tesco. I hope these guys make a few quid from these events. & i hope Ole Man likes a 73 instead :lol

    Crewe Hertige Centre

Great idea :) not much room for thrash tho, how long is their track? 300 yards?

    ELR Diesel Gala 6th-8th July

Ha ha yes, me & my mate have been at Old Dalby all week collecting parts & other remnants from 46009 (In Time Team style dig) She's going to look lovely when finished! :)

    ELR Diesel Gala 6th-8th July

Well rumours persist that Nimbus was never scrapped!! In Castlecroft for all these years?? Seriously speaking i think it would be great to keep it a secret till the actual day! mission impossible i know but how good would that be? --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Sorry...

    ELR Diesel Gala 6th-8th July

Hello all A juicy line up announced for this event! The immediate stand out for me is 24081, & what about the mystery appearance from an 'unseen on the ELR before' loco? hmmm thats going to start some guessing me thinks!?

    Unpopular Classes of Heritage Diesels

Ah yes a highlight for me on a Diesel Gala is a DMU set running around! possibly because i was about 14 when they were phased out in favour of the 150's / 151 prototypes. And you cant deny they posess the ultimate viewing experience for a Railway Enthusiast. Case in point is The ELR, as i...

    Unpopular Classes of Heritage Diesels

Hello This topic (im sure) has been done before, but im wondering what makes unpopular class of loco on our preserved lines? Regarding the KWVR line up for their gala in may i came across a post celebrating the fact that no 47's/Duffs/Spoons were present. I suspect that Bonnets/Peaks are...

CVR Cauldon Lowe Running day 1st April

Hi all Just a quick report on my visit to the Churnet Valley today, had expected to be behind a steamer & the 104 DMU. But, much to this Diesel fan's delight....a class 33 was at the helm (33021 Captain Charles), result!! :) Anyway i'd never been before despite living fairly close & was...
