    Becoming a COSS

MOM courses regularly have people do PTS week one, COSS week two. As COSS is required for child competencies. Some of those undertaking a MOM course may have never been on the railway before.

    Signalling Centre Roles

Incident Controllers and Train Running Controllers are recruited for externally, the most recent ROCs to do this are Basingstoke and York plus Derby. As LOM mentioned they are hard to get externally and most times it’s people who have worked with a TOC, getting the TRC roles. IC slightly easier...

    Signalling Centre Roles

Not sure regarding the TDA roles, I’ve never been one. I am sure like most jobs nowadays, that there would be some form of online test to sift before hand, if not then a straight interview!

    Signalling Centre Roles

Within signalling centres you would typically find: Signallers Shift Signalling Managers Train Delay Attributors If you didn’t want to go for signalling roles (no reason why not, a lot of requirement is done externally for these roles now), a good place would be as a Train Delay Attributor...

    Network Rail seek former signallers

As Godfreycomplex mentioned it’s a role specifically managing MOMs. I had 33 in total including Crossing Keepers but within my patch there was 2 x LOMs covering two sides of an IECC and another 2 x LOMs covering signallers and MOMs at two smaller IECCs. Second best job I ever had and I regret...

    Network Rail seek former signallers

I’m exactly the same, been out since 2015/16 but I feel it’s important to do my part. Even though I’ve been out since 15/16 (worked 5 panels at my old box), I went to a route control and then a LOM response (again trained in a workstation for contingent signalling), I now work for a different IM...

Evening, Rare opportunity has opened up with 5 x vacancies on the ERU. These are the guys and girls who respond to a variety of railway incidents, not limited to LUL but all modes of TfL inc DLR and provide mutual aid to Network Rail. Responding to things such as fatalities and derailments...

GB Railfreight - Trainee Train Manager - Plumstead

The role is a fully licensed drivers job. Operating the rail head milling machine and mobile maintenance trains. From reading, majority of work will be within the central operating section and not the NR portions. Good opportunity & also wouldn’t worry about the 5 years, if GBRF lost the...

Crossrail Elizabeth line - Traffic Manager (Signaller & Electrical Controller)

Evening, For those of you interested, Crossrail is recruiting for the role of Traffic Manager. It encompasses the traditional roles of a Signaller and Electrical Control Operator. You would be multi skilled in both roles (one of the only jobs, where you are trained in both in the UK) and would...

    Network Rail MOM position

Higher than average considering your experience. Tips - use STAR method, highlight areas of leading, incident response plus any of the key things listed on the advert.

NETWORKS OPERATION COORDINATOR/ INCIDENT RESPONSE COORDINATOR

Hi, You may not find the answer you are looking for on here, as those roles are with the roads team and not to do with the tube or rail network.

Can anyone work out why assessments are done this way?

Another thing you may find is that they await for the group activity to be done, then do a base score that they work out from the average scores. Happens a lot with psychometric testing.

Real Time Infrastructure Manager - Crossrail

It is a control room job, you would be monitoring the infrastructure via various systems and reporting it to staff outside so they can take corrective action. When I say maintenance that’s because you usually have two departments on the railway which are Ops and Maintenance.

Real Time Infrastructure Manager - Crossrail

More then likely haven’t had the right people apply.....? Isn’t that shocking for a job to go up multiple times, there’s a minimum of 7 RTIMs. It’s more of a maintenance job, so previous maintenance experience would be really handy.

    Incident Response Manager

No criteria. 30% is on top of the base salary offered, however you will not automatically get this from the start. It'll be at the end of when your training finishes that you'll get the enhancement. Shift wise will be an early, late, night and 12 hours at the weekend. Subject to change...

    level 8 signaller roles

Confirmed. This shouldn't be seen as a negative, it's in order to get people staying and learning the trade before moving on and starting the whole 6-18 month process again from recruitment to fully trained. SimpleSue - I went into a Grade 9 Signalling Centre with no signalling experience, I...

    Incident Response Manager

Everything will be covered in the training, I wouldn't worry about coming from outside the industry, I doubt you'll be the only one! Some aspects of the IRM role will involve investigations so it maybe worth looking at accidents/incidents over the years on the RAIB website, although high...

    Incident Response Manager

Congrats to those starting. Training wise is 9/10 months for the Traffic Managers with there being 2 cohorts and I was told 8 months for the IRM, start Oct finish in May? It will be a long training programme but well worth it.

    Pilotman?

That is what PILOT stands for, used as an acronym to shorten down saying "Hi Driver of 1B29, I'll be your person in lieu of token today". As we were told in training school anyways!

    Bishopsgate - tresspassers?

Haha you are correct, probably shouldn't of said it but it's out there now! Correct - NR. Only reason I remember this sleeping bag is because I had the report sent through to me, couple of months ago. Always found it odd myself how it got there as the access point was locked and would take a...
