Metcam Networkers to be withdrawn at the end of the year?

The BREL units still have the original traction motors, it was the traction inverters that were replaced.

    HS2 Old Oak Common

    a) it is protected. b) there is the rather large North Pole depot in the way... That is exactly what is happening, the complaints revolve around the small number of closures between phases when the tracks are slewed in different ways. (Similar to the London Bridge works phasing). The initial...

    East Kilbride/Barrhead electrification updates

The key is the increased wire tension in all newer systems. Exposed windy locations are still likely to be an issue requiring shorter spans.

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

Or just retrofit ASDO and CSDE as Southern did with the older 377s (and SWT did with 458s). The original slightly naïve 379 ROSCO was penny pinching and didn't want to pay for it.

    ECML Power Supply Upgrade

The plan appears to including getting a decent understanding of SFCs operating then looking at synchronising as later step.

    Discontinuous Electrification - RUK's thoughts?

A significant charge occurs overnight, the units get top ups at termini that are less than the energy used per trip cycle, the quick charges between trips effectively significantly reduce the net discharge rate per journey cycle but they still make it through the day.

    ECML Power Supply Upgrade

There is probably a subtle difference between physical completion and being able to switch stuff on... The ability to switch on may have been outside NR's control.

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

387s have ASDO and CSDE (developed by southern for 377) 379s don't.

But not by NR, by LCR (London and Continental Railways)

    ECML Power Supply Upgrade

    Landslips

Agreed - as thought the rate of change in soil moisture is low and soil moisture levels are reasonably homogenous because of that and also not too many winter storms with high wind speeds to work on the trees. Also the weather over much of the last few years may have already brought out a good...

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

They need to be a lot longer than 4car though.

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

It is. The core issue is that all those services are short distance metro ones that are theoretically less profitable (or rather more loss making) than longer distance southern ones so harder to a make case for reinstatement...

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

They axed services and people just gave up e.g. Southern axed services on the Forest Hill / Anerley corridor which is causing lots of issue along the corridor especially New Cross Gate - London Bridge. 1710363953 Southern Metro does need more units...

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

Exactly, most people have got over excited wit SE rumours but the SE fleet size after a potential retirement of the MetCamm 465/466s would be similar to 6/7 years ago when accounting for changes to service levels due to Thameslink Rainhams and the addition of 707s. SE also don't have the depot...

My proposal to rename Gipsy Hill station

A subsidiary of LBSCR established for the purpose - It was the original Victoria - Croydon route with the via Norbury route opening later 1710359814 Yes part 2, they had already had a go on the Forest Hill corridor but there was a bit more there to begin with. Same people were involved with...

My proposal to rename Gipsy Hill station

Asked the people who renamed it "Great Southern" about 15years ago, before that it was the "Gipsy Hill Tavern" which wasn't first name either. Several LBSCR directors lived locally and have streets named after them e.g. Farquahar Road is named after an LBSCR FD. The large parts of Gipsy Hill...

Interesting - one of the chief Euston NIMBYs asking the question in hope that the the scale of the grade separation is being scaled back
