Can't the defunct Capital Connect stock be taken over by Northern? They are much longer then the majority of Northerns stock.

VT Euston to Glasgow direct via. Preston

So is the 1630 the only service that does this? By semi direct I obviously meant one stop service. I would like to catch a 2hr direct service from Preston-London?

VT Euston to Glasgow direct via. Preston

I took a semi direct Virgin trains service at 1630 yesterday. It was a one stop London-Glasgow service that stopped at Preston only. Looking at the timetable on the website, however, this service doesn't appear to exist. Was it due to maintenance or something? Are there any similar services...

What do we want from the "New" Caledonian Sleeper

Is everyone agreed that there is no commercial interest in a premium first class service? It could subsidise the rest of the train and would be akin to a five star hotel experience.

Interchanging between Waterloo and City line and Northern line at Waterloo station

Re: Finsbury park- aren't they Essientially fare evading and in the process being charged double? I always get a smug satisfaction that clever dicks think they are saving money by not checking out on oyster. The reality will be a £10 journey!

    Caledonian Sleeper bidders named

Could they not be buying old carriages from SNCF/RENFE upgrades from the past 6 years? On that point, is there any option for the owners of Trenhotel to come in? Is the Madrid=Paris sleeper a commercial success (if it was sold commercially)

    Bizarre Experience on East Coast

I suppose my surprise is how many times the bloody buffet trolley came blundering down. Has any operator thought of combining both roles in off peak periods?

    Caledonian Sleeper bidders named

How exciting! Surprised Virgin is putting in a bid! Could any bids include a service between Reading/SW and Scotland?:D http://m.scotsman.com/scotland-on-sunday-2-7506/scotland/caledonian-sleeper-train-will-be-scotland-on-wheels-1-2747896

    Bizarre Experience on East Coast

Hence the post! They certainly had staff for the buffet trolley to come down about 4 times. The fact it did made me sure that a ticket check would take place at some point.

    Bizarre Experience on East Coast

10 minutes but assumed it was unthinkable that a conductor wouldn't come around the train en route to London. How many of you would have paid upon arrival at Kings cross by going to the ticket office? I do feel bad!

    Bizarre Experience on East Coast

Hi there, Just thought I would flag this up as an issue for East Coast staff! Today (Mon) I took the train from Bingley to London Kings Cross. As some of you may know there is no ticket machine at Bingley after 7pm and tickets have to be bought on the train or upon arrival at Leeds...

    Euston during demolition

Hi there, Am looking for information on whether anything has been confirmed vis a vis re-routing WCML trains from Euston whilst the station is being rebuilt? I was thinking the old Waterloo station may be used temporarily for Virgin services, with London Midland moving over to Marlybone...

First win Intercity West Coast franchise

Had a look at the First Great Western Facebook page...jeez I have never seen a TOC with so much criticism. Some of the abuse they get is awful. TBH- is it really worth using customer service reps? I then had a look at Virgin trains (went right back to end of 2011) and there was indeed so many...

I am surprised how isolated Belfast is from the mainland. The flights arent particuarly cheap considering and the ferries have all but stopped foot passengers.

    Eiretunnel

Hi there, Wondering what the practical implications of a high speed rail link connecting Dublin-Belfast-Glasgow-Edinburgh are? Obviously with some kind of tunnel between Portapatrick and Belfast Harbour...Ive noticed that the distance between these two points are less then that of the Channel...
