If I remember rightly it's eye test, hearing test, weight and height and then drug and alcohol urine test

Network Rail Engineer or be a Train Driver?

You for the more skilled based one in my opinion. One you might not have the aptitude to be a driver you would hate to miss the apprentice opportunity and fail your drivers tests, then both routes are closed to you. But it's what you feel you would enjoy more, what you would get the most out of etc.

    Maximum travel time

Nope nothing at all and there is very little they could do about it, unless of course it started to interfere with your punctuality then a word in the ear would be had.

Arriva to float on stock market

I don't think that's too far off he mark having worked for London midland I have seen how a bad set of figures for the share holders see's them cutting back on everything from the RPI's that lost their jobs, trains being cleaned at Liverpool, the trolley services, booking office hours being cut...

    Northern conductor medical bmi.

I wouldn't worry about it all tbh at my depot we have some rather larger people Employed and I'm not a skinny runt by any means. I don't particularly think they can discriminate about weight anymore either as long as you can walk a mile and a half down the track and carry the heavy equipment...

Insufficient compensation from First TransPennine Express

Well according the the TPE delay repay form and it's passenger charter it states "The arrangements for compensation will not apply to certain delays that are outside our control such as severe weather, vandalism, fatalities and security alerts." So I would presume that there is a get out...

Insufficient compensation from First TransPennine Express

I was under the impression that severe weather conditions exempt delay repay and so as your delay was down to that they are under no obligation to issue and compensation hence the goodwill stated.

    20.48 Liverpool-euston 24/02

As I seem to remember it's a standard £1 per mile for taxis companies who are registered to work for the railway. Needing so many tho I'm sure they would of had to book non registered ones at the full standard rate for the average joe bloggs off the street.

Comparison of Virgin Trains Liverpool vs Manchester Passenger Numbers

Virgin like to ship the Liverpool passengers onto the 56 from Crewe you can guarantee that nearly all the passengers on the 04 London midland service to Birmingham out of Liverpool have advanced tickets to change at Crewe for the voyager service.

    London Midland ticket problem

Were both ticket vending machines faulty or just the one on the down line? As a conductor faults usually get reported and recorded pretty quickly so if requesting a refund it should be noted that both were down.

Overcharged on Change of Route Excess?

I would hazard a guess that the clerk put it through as a change of ticket type which would be the full cost of the different tickets as apposed to a change of route. I believe it would be classed as a ticket type change as they are different and not a like for like, going from a day return to...

Delays on the Trent Valley 12th November

    6.17 Preston to Euston

There was an accident on the M6 and the driver got caught up in it and wasn't able to make his train. Not sure where the crew come from for that service tho or if it was the driver making his way to his depot.

Should I pursue this or let it drop ?

I would imagine that the employee would never have any intention of ever letting on he had been spoken too or disciplined. And so when you made your comment about speaking to your wife m, which lets be honest it was, they claimed to have no knowledge what so ever. As for not responding I...

    Please help up

That's very true however an mg11 is not a tiny piece of paper but a very long form which I would imagine would of been explained, secondly RPM have to work in two's if issuing a penalty fare or MG11 as two members of staff haven't been mentioned I again don't think it would be them. Of course...

    Please help up

The little slip of paper issued is a debit card reciept that we get passengers to sign when their card declines, we manually swipe it and the passenger signing it is authorisation to take the money from the account. But to do that a ticket has to be issued. It was the guard that did that not a...

    Please help up

Did she then get issued with a ticket after the card was declined? I only ask because of the advice the fare will be taken of the card which is standard for our card machines. Secondly was she approached by the guard or a revenue protection manager? If it was a guard then the paper will be an...

Southern refusing to issue delay repay in cash

As it sounds that you requested cash and not a cheque, I believe RTV which you are able to exchange for cash is what the majority of TOCS are doing was the correct reply. However the NRCOC says "Compensation will be paid in rail travel vouchers or, at your request, in money. This will be by...

    trainee conductor role

I would obtain written confirmation from your employer stating that they don't do references, but do get your appraisals and perhaps ask a work colleague or the manager to give you a personal reference. You can then hand these over at your interview. As for your previous employer I really...
